What are the Signs of Addiction?
Addiction tends to affect every aspect of a person's life. You might notice that a hydrocodone user is beginning to neglect his or her responsibilities at home or work. It's also common for people addicted to pain pills to have problems in their personal relationships.
Typically, an addiction controls the addict. Hydrocodone abusers might find themselves consumed with thoughts about how to obtain more pills.
Financial problems, lack of motivation and withdrawal symptoms upon cessation of use are also signs of addiction.
In addition, the addict may find that the level of drugs prescribed by a doctor no longer effectively reduce the pain and/or provide a "high". When this happens, tolerance has built up. As tolerance develops, the potential for addiction rises.
Hydrocodone Help Quiz question 3
Am I Addicted to Hydrocodone?
Taking hydrocodone for a long time causes the body to form a chemical dependency. When this occurs, your body won't function normally without the medication. You might experience withdrawal symptoms or find yourself moody and irritable without the drug. A hydrocodone abuser might also experience cravings for the drug if they haven't had their normal supply.

Hydrocodone Help Quiz question 5
Hydrocodone Addiction Treatment
One of the most important decisions you need to make is what type of treatment program you want to complete. Outpatient treatment programs don't interrupt your life as much as inpatient programs do, but some people need the added structure in order to recover. It's important that you choose the type of program that right for you.
Outpatient treatment programs give you enough flexibility to work a full-time job and to spend time with your family in the evenings. Some programs require you to check in with a drug abuse counselor on a daily basis, while others require you to stay at a treatment facility for eight hours per day to attend group therapy sessions.
Inpatient facilities have more structured programs. You live at the facility for the duration of your treatment. The facility has medical staff that helps you through the detoxification process. The medical staff can administer medication to help relieve any withdrawal symptoms that you have during detox. When you begin your normal treatment, you'll:
- Attend group therapy sessions.
- Attend individual therapy sessions.
- Go to educational lectures about addiction and recovery.
