About
John Hunter first started in the addiction treatment field after personal lived experience in both addiction and recovery. He received his Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor (CATC) in 2012 and went on to counsel people with substance use disorders and their families for many years. He was given the opportunity to become a Program Director in 2014 and worked in that capacity for many years before moving to work for the local government as a contract monitor.
During this time, John became interested in helping others tell their stories, and eventually went back to school to obtain an undergraduate degree in English and a graduate degree in Strategic Communications. John uses his experience with addiction and working in the substance use field to create content that serves to inform people struggling with addiction and those they love about various substances, addictive processes, and, more importantly, that there is a solution available.
