Using Massachusetts Cigna Health Insurance for Addiction Treatment

Massachusetts Cigna health plans have tiered levels of coverage, sometimes called “metal plans.” All plans have Cigna in-network rehab facilities but range in price and level of coverage.³ Each plan also has different co-pays and deductibles.³

The bronze level plan is the most affordable, offering 60% coverage for health care through Cigna.³ Silver level plans cover 70% of healthcare costs and are more expensive.³ The gold plan is less affordable but covers 80% of healthcare costs, while the platinum plan is the priciest, covering 90%.³

Cigna may cover some or all inpatient rehab costs in Massachusetts. Cigna also covers at least a portion of the costs for outpatient rehab. With outpatient rehab, you can receive similar treatment to inpatient rehab while living at home.⁵ Outpatient rehab programs vary in intensity from less structured standard programs to programs offering in-depth care, like intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and partial hospitalization programs (PHPs).⁵ People may transition to outpatient treatment after completing an inpatient program or start care in outpatient treatment if they have a mild or moderate addiction.

Does Cigna Cover Mental Health in Massachusetts?

Cigna covers mental health treatment in Massachusetts.
