Addiction Rehabs in Ohio That Accept Humana Insurance

Per the Affordable Care Act (ACA), your Humana plan may be required to provide some level of coverage for substance use disorder treatment (e.g., rehab), behavioral health treatment services, and inpatient mental and behavioral health services.⁴ However, what your Humana plan covers will depend on your personal health plan, the treatment you need, where you seek care, and how long your treatment will last. Humana can cover all levels of addiction treatment in Ohio, but the exact amount of coverage will vary based on a multitude of factors. The type of plan that you have and whether you seek care at an in-network or out-of-network facility are some of the biggest factors that contribute to the coverage breadth that your Humana plan in Ohio may provide. It’s best practice to verify your benefits and coverage prior to seeking care whenever possible; if it is an emergency, seek care at the facility that is nearest to you.

Outside of life-threatening situations, you can often meet with a healthcare provider to assess the types of addiction treatment that may be right for you. The levels of care you may need are unique to you and only a trained professional can help determine what is right for you. Some of the treatment types that may be recommended to you include the following:^6-8

• Medical detox: Depending on the severity of your addiction, a provider may recommend that you undergo medical detoxification. During medical detox, you will rid your body of any substances while in a medically supervised setting to effectively manage withdrawal symptoms.
• Inpatient rehab: If your provider recommends that your treatment take place in an inpatient setting, you will receive ongoing medical supervision and care while you live in the facility for the duration of your program.
• Outpatient rehab: If you receive outpatient treatment, you will visit a facility several times a week to receive therapy, but you can return home at night.
• Aftercare for addiction treatment: Also known as continuing care, aftercare for addiction involves receiving support for your recovery after you’ve completed rehab. Common examples of aftercare include sober-living homes, group meetings, and meeting with a sobriety sponsor regularly.

Your Humana Ohio health insurance plan does offer some level of coverage for co-occurring disorders, but the exact amounts of coverage will vary. The types of treatment you receive, the amenities of the treatment facility, whether the provider or facility are within your Humana plan’s network, and your specific plan will play a role in whether treatment for dual diagnosis is covered.
