Dr. Christensen has joined Affinity Recovery in the role of primary therapist after a number of years working in the field of addiction and recovery. Dr. Christensen graduated with honors from The University of Arizona with a B.A. in Psychology. Upon completion, she continued her education in California at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology obtaining a Master’s and Psy.D degree in Clinical Psychology, Marital and Family Therapy Specialization. Through her years of experience working in the addiction field, Dr. Christensen aims to empower the individual to reclaim his or her life from addiction, and work towards identifying the underlying issues surrounding the substance use. Her therapeutic approach is establishing trusting and genuine relationships with her clients.More
Randy Burden is the Clinical Director at Affinity Recovery. He has been involved in Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation in various capacities for the past 30 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and his Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family therapy from the University of La Verne, Ca. He has been a licensed MFT in California since 1997. Randy started his career in drug and alcohol outpatient programs for several non-profit agencies, eventually serving as a mental health therapist and clinic supervisor for three different counties in Southern California. He then moved on to work with detox patients for 5 years in a psychiatric hospital, conducting: groups, individual, and family therapy. Randy also owned and operated a school for special education teenagers, specializing in intensive mental health and drug/alcohol rehab services. Randy has worked with county, state, and federal programs to serve many specialized populations such as foster children, trauma victims, and sexual offenders in mental health and drug/alcohol rehabilitation services. Randy believes in the strong foundation and principles of a 12-step program, and incorporates them into many of his treatment modalities. He believes that “Every client has the ability to overcome their obstacles in life and can accomplish their goals and dreams if they are given the right tools to work with.”. He believes in giving each individual the opportunity to believe in themselves and to have hope and faith in their future. As Clinical Director for Affinity Recovery, Randy instills the importance of these values in all clinical staff, so that they may pass this on to their clients.
