This place is not very effective, I agree with another former resident, it is one long AA meeting. All the staff seem to be addicts or former addicts which helps with empathy. They are also all about your insurance and money. The facility is by no way diverse in the clients or staff, not even the kitchen staff. I do not see that all the clients are treated the same. The people who were addicted with street drugs were treated with kid gloves, and get away with many bad behaviors while others with just alcohol addiction were given less consideration. The place is also very unsanitary, There is only one restroom in the main lobby for guest, clients and staff, and it is always filthy, you are given no real cleaning products to clean your assigned work duties, just Lysol. at the time i was there is the fall of 2019 I was 1 of only 3 clients of color that resided there. I did find the nursing staff to often be fairly caring. Please do your research thoroughly when looking for a treatment facility for yourself or loved one

This is an incredibly wonderful facility. It's been years since I visited. Couple of staff members really irritated me but everyone else was great. Most of the staff have been through some form of recovery so they naturally make the best counselors (in my humble opinion). From experience, I can tell you this place is FAR better than many other programs.

What a joke. If you have an injury, please don't go here. I had two dislocated kneecaps, a broken leg and they did NOTHING. The only thing they did was punish when I w tas late. Sorry I can't walk, but seriously? A top rated facility with no elevator? You have to be kidding. I would NEVER go back here. Sorry, but all your tenets have sex behind the wall and you are either oblivious or just not doing your job, but I'm in trouble because I can't climb stairs??? What is wrong with this place. Answer: EVERYTHING.

The head staff are amazing, most of the technical staff are kids and disrespectful. My first time in recovery and felt like most of staff were triggers. Until given to he opportunity to communicate with head staff. Felt I had to be indignant to do so bc of the technical staff, unqualified gatekeepers!

This facility did not have the capacity to accommodate older individuals when I was there. I've noticed that there are no dates tor any of the comments. The food is nourishing for sure and tasty. Most of us gained weight!! Not a place I would recommend for 30 year olds or older!

This place stinks. My counselor lied to my wife told her she should not let me come home. I left yearly. Counselor told my wife I wouldn't be clean 24 hours after leaving well I'm almost two months clean. one of the worst counselors I have ever met.

I am unsure that the "treatment effectiveness" question is appropriate at this time. However, Blue Ridge, in my opinion, and due to interactions with the counselors and staff, and attending their family workshop: I would recommend Blue Ridge Recovery's program to anyone that wants to get recovery right the first time. Amazing people. Amazing program. Anticipating amazing results. Their unrelenting ability and offering of (their) experience, strength and hope. The only "weakness", and not sure about the word weakness, is that it is a 30(35) day program. Recovery is a long process... and the people at BR as so strong in their mission and beliefs that I wish that had their own sober living program, however I believe they know and refer clients to some pretty awesome ones.

The staff at Blue Ridge truly care about the individual walking through those doors and respond with kindness, respect, and a passion for helping those in need. Each client is cared for as an individual and respected as such. The love that lives in this place is truly AMAZING. I am honored to be part of this team.

I have worked in treatment centers for two years, and I never felt truly at home until I began working at Blue Ridge. My first day of work (in April 2017) I immediately felt welcomed by the staff, and clients as well. I have discovered something in my time at Blue Ridge, the staff, including myself, care very deeply about each and every client. We have a housekeeping staff, and a kitchen staff, but they do not just clean and cook, even they speak with the clients and show them the love they deserve. It has been an honor to work with this team, and I am looking forward to many more years here!

The entire staff is dedicated to the complete and overall care of each individual client. We work hard to recognize each person's needs to make treatment not only effective, but comfortable. SG, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed sending time with some of our techs!! They are a really diverse group of people in recovery, clinicians and others who just want to be of service. I'm confident the experience was much better than being incarcerated and is unfortunate that your counselor didn't seem to be the best fit for you. I would love to discuss any details about it and get your feedback on how we could improve things for the next person. Please feel free to contact me at todd.stumbo@acadiahealthcare.com. Walking through the doors at Blue Ridge truly saved my life. At 30 years old it was my first treatment center I had ever been to. I was scared to death, broken, lonely, depressed, full of anxiety, and full of grief and guilt for what I had let my life become and what I had done to my myself and my family. Through my 35 days I got stronger everyday, I learned new things everyday, I learned how to cope with addiction, I learned how to live a clean lifestyle, I learned that addiction is not just a term that gets thrown around; addiction is a true disease. Before I left Blue Ridge I learned how to put the past in the past and look forward to my future, I learned how to forgive myself, and most importantly I learned how to love myself again. From the CEO, Medical Director, Family & Alumni Director, Program Director, the Counselors, the Nursing staff, the Tech staff, all the way to the cleaning staff; they were all truly amazing! I will be forever grateful for Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center!

This place is a joke. The owner and director of First is in a band and brags about partying and drinking. He is known to show up on property late night after performing in his band. He goes in the house and eats the clients food while wobbling around drunk. The success rate of this program is very low. The past year 6 people have died from overdoses after completing this program. Another young man was kicked out over a relationship and he committed suicide a few months ago because he could not get his addiction under control. This unfortunate guy was kicked out over a relationship yet Brock the head house manger and Lindsey the intake dorector met while both of them were clients in the program and instead of being kicked out they were made staff. I am in the process of going through the right channels to have the staff drug tested. It is well known that at least 4 of the staff members whom have very powerful jobs there are in active addiction. Joseph gets vehicles gave to him by the VA so that the Vets can have dependepable rides yet the vets hardly get to ride in that van. Joseph using company money to buy cars that staff uses for personal use. I sure hope those vehicles are on property when the IRS comes. Joseph makes sure to tell clients how they are junkies and are not worth a shit. But don't worry because as long as you relapse he will allow you to come as much as you want. If you care about your loved ones please do not send them to First. Its all about making Joseph money. The so called classes suck and half of the time you sign a paper saying you were in class and get a handout and class is over. They say you have to make so many meetings a week yet in reality all you have to do is sign a paper saying you went. This place is so caught up in relationships that drugs have taken over the houses. There are people there that came in to get off one substance and are now addicted to another substance because it is easier to get drugs in the house than it is to get them on the streets. If you want your loved one to get recovery please find a better place but if you want them to get worse or possible die then FIRST AT BLUE RIDGE is the place.

Working at Blue Ridge has been one of the most AMAZING experiences of my life. To be surrounded by like minded people who have a passion for helping those struggling with addiction is such a blessing. There are several areas of the program I love but having someone coming weekly to conduct yoga and DBT has been one of the highlights!! I deeply appreciate everything that all the staff do and the support of the local recovery community. I look forward to continue to fight the battle daily with others who are driven to change the world.

I was a client at BRMRC from May-July. I came into Blue Ridge pregnant, and scared of judgement and of being treated poorly because of my situation. However, I was treated with such kindness, compassion, and understanding. The nursing staff made sure I was always okay and received all of the care I needed. The counselors and techs are all genuinely caring about every clients life. The are all willing to go above and beyond to make sure clients needs are met. They made sure to always be available to chat if anyone needed it. I do feel that blue ridge gave me a great foundation and understanding of recovery and a second chance at life.

I was in Blue Ridge at the beginning of 2017 . First of all this place is extremely over crowded they have almost 60 residence crammed into what is a large house most of the day . It is extremely understaffed it is advertised as a medical facility but I only saw a doctor two times in the five weeks that I was there and had to ask to see them on those occasions . The nurses do not want to be bothered with your problems even though for some people especially in withdraws it could be life or death. The place allowed one girl with a severe eating disorder or to keep having seizures day after day after some of us residents told the people that she was not eating or throwing up her food they did nothing and kept her there even though they do not treat or monitor eating disorders. They borderline in danger peoples lives for money at this place there is no individual. Individual counseling session's are advertised but they are not met or provided I never had individual counseling sessions . I also advertise that they take people out to do fun things but if you're lucky you'll get to go one time in the five weeks you're. The staff are all young kids in their 20s who you have no idea what they're doing and are not effective. You are made to sit in a group room all day and sit through the same groups with the same topics and allowed an hour and 45 minutes of free time a day until night time and during the day there is no TV time or anything allowed usually just sit around and smoke cigarettes or go sleep . The CEO, Todd, does not involve himself with clients at all and only pops out to tell people when not to do something rather than ever finding out what's going on with anybody . Sadly I've been to rehab multiple times in this place was an absolute horrible experience. I have never wanted to leave a place so bad, and this facility is not cheap by any means probably the most expensive place I've ever been and it seems like they are just pocketing all the money and sparing no expense for the clients . I cried on the phone countless nights about how much I hated it there and how tired I was up sitting in groups all day and felt like I got no individual attention . People please heed my advice in send your loved ones to another facility one that actually cares about clients and wants them to have a comfortable time in treatment .

Would not recommend going here. They are worried more about money than helping you. A lot of younger kids most are there on court orders. You do not have privacy along with having to sleep with 5 other ppl in the same room. They will not make you comfortable in detox. You won\'t get much one on one therapy and the meetings are mostly AA meetings all day. Also very strict try to keep up with you 24/7 including waking you up at night to make sure your there and not breaking the rules. The staff persuaded me into coming they talked very well until I saw what it was then they were extremely rude and was only worried about me paying them for the only night that I was there. There are much better options out there so please do your research before choosing. I read bad reviews online about this place and should have listened to them. They are very under staffed and unprofessional.

I find the women and children’s program interesting. They receive grants for that program but haven’t even had a woman with child in program for some time now. From my understanding if a pregnant woman calls the program they say that component is full at this time….How is it full when there’s nobody pregnant or with child there??? Also there is a “immediate” fee that gets you into the program sooner. As I have been told there are spots available but they don’t tell you because they hope you have $$. There is a 90 day program that cost $6500 but even if you pay that you still get sent to work. All long term clients are made to fill out food stamp applications but most of the food comes from the food bank. Heard Joseph has a catering company…Wonder if the food stamps go there.

My wife was in the program. Slow/lack of communication. My wife had swelling of her feet and it was difficult for her get around. Also was a huge distraction for her and someone there should have stepped and taken if seriously. If your an older person this is not the place for you. To many young people which creates even more distractions. Overall they need to do a better job with cleanliness. Visit days were in the cafeteria, and that place was not clean. Overall for the price, it leaves a lot to be desired. The staff is hit or miss. Meaning the communication piece isn\'t great

For starters, do not have a center with 6 flights of stairs. I paid 5k out of pocket. Unlike every other KID in there parents helped with nothing. 3 people seem to be there for the right reasons. I was in bad shape. Aside from addiction I have NO history of ANY mental illness. I am clean now. I give few people there minimal credit for the life I am living. Get caught with dope, serve some time, and get clean. Thank you to one person in particular. Nothing but love you.

I was at Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center about 2 months ago and thought the placed stunk. I have been been to rehab a couple of other times and those were much more professional but this place was in Georgia and I wanted to stay closer to home this time. There were so many younger patients there that it was a real turn off. I ended up leaving early because the group\'s were chaos and being outside of group was worse. Several of my fellow inmates felt the same way and planned to leave. The staff are ok but were just so young and didn\'t help me with my depression. We were crammed in the bedrooms and the place is not clean and was smelly. I liked some staff but some were really untrained and didn\'t seem to like their job. I never got to see my counselor except once and the groups were a waste of time. They were just worried about money and didn\'t have enough staff to make sure their profits were high enough I guess. Don\'t waste your time and money. I ended up going somewhere else and I\'m sober today.

This place is a complete joke! Phone calls are not monitored at all.

Not for serious persons interested in recovery. Too many young people who are just there to keep them out of trouble while insurance pays. Rowdy. Admissions standards weak.

Should have better small groups and more girl and guy separate classes. Staff should be more concerned about how you're doing and less concerned if guys and girls are sitting too close or hanging out too much. Great tanning place and free time. Meals need improvement and there needs to be better trained staff.

Great
A lot of the staff are in recovery as well so they can relate really well! They really care about the patient and invest a lot of time and effort. Not a lot of "amenities" such as massage and alternative treatments like that. Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center gave me a great foundation for my recovery. They provided good treatment and education. The staff is very knowledgable and experienced with recovery. Food and accommodations are great! Family and alumni programs are great and extremely helpful.
