Our daughter did not do well with the mixed groups. We paid up front over $50,000 and she left without a phone in the middle of nowhere, and bad things happened. We are still paying for the treatment. Very few actually complete the program so that makes their statistics look good, as they do not count the number that leave early. Program okay for males with no mental health issues. Not recommended for females, as most of them have a co-occurring disorder and need evidence- based treatment with professional oversight.

Secretive, isolated, verbally abusive, sequestered, lockdown. Burning Tree has one worldview, that clients who enter their facility are worthless liars and all family that support their loved one, are helpless enablers. I am in the mental health counseling field, and was shocked at the unethical treatment by counselors, screaming and swearing (no I'm not kidding), at clients and family members; along with labels such as "sociopath" given to the client in a group setting by non licensed counseling staff members (this particular person worked in operations and facilitated daily and weekend groups, while holding no type of counseling or drug/alcohol licensure). I read about the abusive treatment of Burningtree in online reviews, as my loved one was in transit to the facility and was unfortunately not surprised by the unethical and verbally abusive treatment by the staff, operations personnel and counselors shortly after my loved ones arrival (there was one amazing counselor in the lodge facility, she was a light in the burning tree darkness). I am in no way under the guise that my loved one doesn't need help, but completely stripping a client of all dignity and disregarding state laws and professional code of ethics within the counseling profession, is not only frightening in this industry, but can also do irreparable harm to both the client and families. There are so many specific incidents that I am choosing not to share, however suffice it to say, I am shocked that Burning Tree has not been shut down at this point by the state of Texas.

Great
I checked in BT October 6, 2010. Best decision I ever made. I\'ve witnessed miracles you wouldn\'t comprehend. Today I am best of friends with all I completed the program with.

Treatment was excellent! Recovery tools emphasized were excellent. Recovery depends upon the client. Long term treatment was the answer for me. Complete absence, total acceptance in the sober way of life are paramount to my recovery. Treatment / rehabilitation focus is required at any facility. BTRR helped me with my substance abuse addiction and as important began to mold me into a growing human being by identifying other areas in my life that needed improvement.

I already made up my mind to quit so I mostly needed to detox and they offered support for when you get out as well.

Good
This program is uniquely designed to address those individuals who are 'reluctant to recover': in other words, addicts with a history of relapsing. This is a no-nonsense long-term program, complemented by an intensive after-care program that is coordinated and staffed by personnel from Burning Tree. It is a peer-driven community where clients learn about their disease, diligently apply and practice the 12 Steps, and take responsibility for their choices and behavior. By eliminating a hard timeline,(30- 60-90 days), the program offers a unique opportunity for healing and recovery to take hold.

My family was through with me, and I got into a homeless shelter and was desperate to change. This place didn't help.
