CFC saved my life. I truly believe that. I was treated terrible at local ER's & Dr's when tried to get help. The physical withdrawal of opiates kept the cycle of addiction going & a new life emerged when I didn't have to be sick anymore. CFC is NOT just a methadone server. There are strict guidelines & those running it really do want success for its patients. I get tired of seeing such negativity in the media about methadone-specifically clinics. There are always going to be bad apples everywhere. There ARE those who are working the program & are living life without opiates (the #1 abused drug right now I believe.) A lot of ppl think all methadone patients are heroine users & that is such a media responsible myth. I too was uneducated & had no idea methadone is used to treat opiate based pill addictions. You do NOT feel high using methadone! (CFC also prescribes suboxone & another med for oppiate addiction as well) There is a titrating process which is designed to go slowly. A lot of ppl do not know this & think you just stop taking it one day. These clinics are constantly inspected by the government. CFC is 1 of 4 clinics I believe in the Wichita area & have had more transfer patients than any of them. This speaks volumes! I've visited another clinic & was NOT impressed. Counselors are avail from open to close. Accessible voicemail after hours. Liaison w/PCP & specialists for aftercare/pain mngmnt for procedures &,surgeries, counselors with addiction pasts-they are compassionate&have Been there. Groups offered daily, clinic has a safe feeling, grievance policy&procedures, dual diagnosis care next door.Rules change often & not always "across the board," insecurities of being unfairly discharged, some employees ride their patients hard, a lot of homeless soliciting outside building, Dr in charge not avail much.
