Specialization

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a highly specific, research-validated form of therapy that can help people overcome traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. With EMDR, a trained practitioner uses bilateral stimulation, eye movement and touch to stimulate parts of the brain as a patient recounts certain experiences and memories as a way to more thoroughly process uncomfortable, painful feelings.
  • Individualized Treatment
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
  • Holistic Therapy
Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
  • Process Abuse Treatment
Not all addictions involve mood-altering chemicals. The term “process addiction” describes the unhealthy use of behaviors (including eating, gambling, sexual activity, shopping, internet use, etc.) that has spiraled out of control and into the realm of addiction.

Don’t expect emails back from all staff. My therapist was good, but as soon as I asked for a partial refund nothing. I was asked to get child care for my 5 month old so I wasn’t too distracted. I didn’t feel distracted. Just depressed and needing help. I paid out of pocket. Completed a week. Then was told to find child care. As soon as I found it they said they no longer offer the 5 day program and wouldn’t let me participate in the 3 days and would not refund for three weeks. How do the expect a struggling mom to get help? When they ask why you’re here I guess don’t be honest. I said to look good for court. They didn’t like that and accused me of relapsing because I was supper depressed. Who wouldn’t be after losing temporary custody of their kids. Don’t recommend this place.

Deer Hollow’s staff changed my life for the better!

At a time when my son was at rock bottom, we were fortunate to find Deer Hollow Recovery. We have tried many treatment centers but the approach they utilize appears to be geared towards figuring out why the individual wants to use and learning to adjust behavior and thinking. The therapists were excellent. Highly recommend completing the inpatient program followed by the outpatient program/sober living to maximize the benefit of the program. More expensive than some other treatment facilities but worth every dollar.

A little over four months ago I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Deer Hollow Sober Living and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). I had actually attended a different residential treatment facility in Salt Lake for roughly two months and was informed that their sober living was being closed. This turned out to be one the most impactful and positive things that happened to me in early recovery as it ultimately led me to Deer Hollow. I now have just over six months sober and can attest that their entire team, from ownership to clinicians to program coordinators to house managers, genuinely care about the well-being and lasting recovery of their clients. They maintain a long-term focus to help ensure every client has the best chance of ongoing success after you leave the structured environment of sober living / IOP, which from my past experience is a rare quality among treatment programs. Being in an IOP program especially can sometimes seem monotonous and repetitive after a while but Deer Hollow's unique approach to this process kept me engaged and allowed me to continually learn new things about myself, my addiction, and how to best maintain my sobriety going forward. Also, many of the staff members and alumni that participate in the aftercare are incredibly active in local recovery groups which definitely made me feel like I was already apart of these groups from day one. I’m grateful that I found Deer Hollow Sober Living / IOP and would recommend it to anyone entering that phase of their recovery process.
