Philosophy

Denver Recovery Center is an addiction treatment center in Colorado that specializes in holistic and evidence-based treatment. At our rehab center, we believe treating substance addiction requires a full continuum of care that addresses the mind, body, and spirit. Mark Oberg
Clinical Director

Mark Oberg is the Clinical Director at Denver Recovery Center and has worked with clients over the course of the last 10 years to make significant changes in their lives. He works with clients to develop an understanding of how the patterns that they have developed over the course of their life are contributing to their suffering, and how they may begin to take action to shift those patterns.   Mark offers clients the view that, while there is pain and suffering in life, it need not be an enemy to be avoided at all costs. In recovery, it is possible to accept that suffering in all of its, often times excruciating, forms is workable through genuine connection to community as well as our self. Together, by developing a greater awareness of the patterns that we have developed throughout our lives, and taking action to live our recovery, we have the opportunity to live life in the present moment; no longer paralyzed by the disappointments of the past or obsessed with some idealized future.   In his personal time, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife and son exploring various hiking trails, hot springs, and camping sites all over the Western United States. He is also an avid baseball and football fan, specifically spending too much time obsessing over the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.   Mark graduated with a Bachelor’s in Applied Sciences – Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and a master’s Degree in Contemplative Counseling Psychology from Naropa University.

To clarify, yes, the house manager held what I would liken to a "house meeting" regarding my eating/exercise habits, out of concern, no, I do not find that to be professional, nor appropriate; I wouldn't chalk my experience to single-star review, though. I found most staff, really, all of the staff to be great. My living circumstances made things difficult, but I appreciated the experience. Staff addressed the issue with the house manager, fairly promptly. Difficulties with diet, being the only vegetarian. After completing one treatment program, I left DRC's in a few weeks, after my trust was completely violated, but that is just my experience. Really sincerely wish the former review wouldn't have painted this light of me, nor my experience. I have only positives for a great deal of my experience there. It was tough as hell, at times, because it's a mix of sober living/rehab, and I believe there could have been more around the clock assistance, but the center only opened this year. Shoutout to everyone who helped me along the way.

On the phone, they told me I could smoke. Later i found out we can smoke at the office with minimal issues. At the house, we were not allowed to go outside due to neighbor issues, they neglected to tell me this on the phone. I was forced to smoke in a 100-degree garage. The only congenial thing about this place is the food.

Denver Recovery Center staff truly cares about each client. They limit the amount of clients they bring in at a time that way treatment is individualized and personal. Denver Recovery Center strengths are the staff, the holistic treatment, individual therapy, outdoor activities, and comfortable amenities. Denver Recovery Center does not cater to eating disorders, but does treat other underlying issues.

I would recommend Denver Recovery Center to any person struggling with substance abuse. The staff is educated on addiction and they show unconditional love to their clients. Their main focus is to guide their clients to living a successful exciting sober lifestyle. The overall environment is welcoming and beautiful. Strengths: Unconditional love for the clients, going above and beyond to make sure the family and client are taken care of in all aspects of their lives. Weakness: More holistic experiences for families to participate in.
