My past comment was butchered by whoever edits these reviews, so I'll make it shorter this time. My cousin died in this facility. We were told that he hung himself, from a doorknob, with a belt, and had his Id and birth cert in his shoe.

I have been to Mag Ridge before and it was great. I suffer from PTSD and depressive psychosis coupled with addiction. I had a breakdown after receiving bad news from home and checked out halfway in. I held out for some time, but eventually went back to taking even higher doses than before as my mental state worsened. Months later, at age 48, I had a stroke while at home alone. At the hospital I discovered that I also had kidney disease. The stroke was heredity-related but manifested itself earlier than in most cases because the drugs were aggravating my hypertension and heart defect. (I was unaware I had it at that time.) The kidney disease was borne on the same. After physical rehab I recovered, but the state of my emotional problems grew worse. I went back to using. I was added to the waiting list at Mag and called every single morning as per request. Weeks of this went by until I finally got the call back from the facility. They told me to go to the ER for evaluation and we'd go from there. It was determined that I should detox at their short stay institution only because my physical condition could affect withdrawal and they didn't have the expertise or equipment on site to take care of the complications that may arise during detox, and then I'd transfer to Mag Ridge.I Except at they didn't. They sent me home. I am legally disabled and I'm fully insured, and they sent me home. Now I use more than ever. They're a good program, yes. But don't trust ANYTHING they tell you until they give it to you in writing and place it in your hands. My only option is to go several hours away from the only place I feel safe to a place I've never heard of to a hospital I've never seen. Difficult for a person like me to say the least. And tomorrow morning I'll be waking up to check bed availability AGAIN, for God knows how long. I am at the end of my proverbial rope.

My nephew had just been released from Wood Ridge and they wanted him to go to Magnolia Ridge. I called to find out about a bed in Mag Ridge . The girl that I talk to on the phone was rude and short very unpleasant. The fact is if she represents Magnolia Ridge I would't want anyone I love to go there. Very hateful...

Very good for temporary recovery or a detox facility. Would not recommend for a permanent "one time only" fix.

I am the one who gave the 1 star review that got lost in translation somewhere, (apparently) so I would like to clarify that my cousin (allegedly) "hung himself" in the direct 24 hr care and supervision of the residential staff at the detoxification part of magnolia ridge rehab facility. Those are the details i was givin when we recieved the box with his ashes in the mail. My best friend my entire life gone forever when he was supposed be somewhere safe getting the help he needed to to come home to his daughter. That is how his 11 yr old daughter found out about his death. A box came to the house. She answered the door and said " its says its for dad, but they want you to sign it". That's when the courrier told us the package contained human remains. Ashes. That is what we have now.

My son stayed at this facility and we found it to be very sub-par. He was shuffled among psychiatrists who casually slapped the \"bipolar\" label on him and prescribed up to 6 meds at a time. Each psychiatrist would change meds around - my son was a zombie. Informed by therapist \"bipolar\" is the go-to diagnosis so insurance will pay. Bipolar is a HUGE diagnosis that should be made responsibly. We hoped at least he\'d get good therapy but he only got to see his therapist a handful of times. When I complained, I was told they were understaffed or something. . . just not okay. This was not only NOT effective, it was counter-productive. We took him to Atlanta for a brain scan and proper diagnosis and that doctor was appalled by what he heard about Magnolia Ridge. My son got taken off all the dangerous chemicals and has been doing very well since. Having lived in other states, I see first hand how lacking the psychiatric community in Johnson City is. My son did not need Suboxone and that\'s about all JNC offers. He needed a proper doctor for responsible diagnosis and ongoing treatment. What he got at Magnolia Ridge was the all-time low. He was miserable there - kept asking for therapy but didn\'t get it - and all they did was fill him full of drugs.

They went out of their way to be good to us , answer any questions we had . Required attendance to a meeting every day for 3 mos then 5 days a week for a year and counseling for 1 year . Required restution for every debt that she had made and did not pay and a written apology to every person she had hurt . Her program was paid for by the state . She signed papers to follow thru with the program or she would lose the funding. As a group with counselors they walked to a store every Wednesday and attended church on Sundays as a group.

Good counselors. Gets patients involved with NA, AA. Not big enough for city. Very limited funds! We need more facilities Like this in Johnson City. Waiting list is way to long to get in. Need more physical activities for patients. Need better home plans for patients when leaving..

Strong counseling and nursing staff, but no faith based options. This facility works with individuals and with families to help their patients recover and become alcohol and drug free. They offer great after treatment programs to help people stay sober after leaving the facility

Magnolia Ridge changed my life. The staff is wonderful and they are so helpful. Their main concern is the clients comfort and safety. It was a great experience and I had been in treatment once before, but this place was so much better.
