Hope by the Sea believes that each and every addict and alcoholic has the inner strength and ability to change. The residential drug and alcohol rehab offers a variety of treatment programs, including a college track and a Christian-based rehab, so that each client can find a recovery method that truly fits. This individualized approach increases the effectiveness of treatment, and allows clients to build a strong foundation for long-lasting sobriety.

Facility Highlights

  • Christian Rehab
  • Sober Living
  • Remarkably Peaceful Setting

Specialization

  • Detox
Though not all rehab facilities offer “medical detoxification,” all people with an addiction to drugs or alcohol will experience intense physical and emotional changes and discomfort as their bodies react to withdrawal of the addictive substance. Many people use the term “detox” to refer to the period of time (ranging from a few days to a week) when the body is reacting to an addict’s decision to stop using.
  • Trauma & Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT)
Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT) uses the brain’s innate ability to adapt to change in a healing way, essentially “retraining” the brain to respond differently to familiar memories of trauma or pain.

I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to \"Hope by the Sea\". I went there at my lowest point and have thrived since returning to normal life. The housing is awesome (you can prepare you own food from endless supplies), the staff is extremely helpful and fair, and I at least came away feeling like I was truly important to them at least at some level. Therapy was the best I have ever encountered. If you struggle with substance abuse & are truly seeking help I strongly encourage you to talk to these folks.

This place is horrible. They do not care about anyone's safety or recovery, just how much they can make off the person.

At Hope by the Sea, clients are treated like children, this is disgusting as people generally seek Treatement to be reminded they are adults. If you value real and honest recovery explore the options at either Hazelden Betty-Ford or Sierra Tucson where you will find a proven record of experience based therapies. 1. Administrative staff are not accredited medical professionals (PhD, MD, PsyD), nor listed publicly. This is a family-owned/operated business, not run by the licensed professionals working there. 2. At least one hour every day is spent riding in van-pool style transportation between campus and residential housing. (common practice in So-Cal) 3. The name Hope by the Sea is misleading. Yes, the ocean is a 45 minute walk from the front door; however, clients are not permitted to leave the two acre campus and cannot visit the beach at will. *review written following two month observation, problems may be systemic.

This program is not a Christian program, although I was misled by their staff to believe their Christian Track "Celebrate Hope" was a faith-based program. They don't take their clients to Saddleback, they don't hold regular CR groups. They fraudulently have the CARF Accreditation on their website. Among other erroneous info I was told by their staff, I will write about unethical sales and billing practices. They refused to provide me with a detailed billing statement; I requested a detailed billing statement at my insurance provider's request after Hope by the Sea submitted over $20,000 in claims in less than 30-days claiming payments to various third-party sources, even after billing my credit card $6,500 and wanting to charge me another $400. They diligently shared how most patients experience recovery after 12-months, so they tried to convince a stay longer than 30-days.

When you are looking for drug or alcohol treatment for yourself or a loved one, you are not at your best in terms of rational decision-making. Soothing words and voiced concern can seem compelling, but don’t be misled. Hope-by-the-sea is more about money-making than care-giving. They obfuscate their fees, massively inflate their charges, and provided little clinical oversight. It is nothing short of shameful. We happily transferred to another facility that was fantastic, caring, and one-third the cost for a program / facilities that were amazingly better.
