So I actually came here for anxiety and depression ONLY. The first few days were tough but as I started to want to learn I got so much out of it. My brother came here for addiction and relapsed the day he came home but don’t let that shy you away. Everything we did wasn’t bad but I’m sure it could’ve been run a lot better. I would recommend.

It's my understanding that this facility has been shut down by federal agents, thank God. I personally know three people who attended this facility. It's criminal how they ran their facility, trapping people who genuinely wanted help but couldn't leave and try to find an acceptable rehab because RISF held a piece of paper that they needed in order to go back to work over their heads. The y are disgusting people who didn't care about their clients with poorly run groups and long waits on a bus to attend their next NA meeting, even if they never touched a drug in their lives

This place is a nightmare. Not because it's a rehab or whatever, it's because it's the worst possible place to go for recovery. The place is dirty and falling apart - any picture you see online is actually not a picture of the facility, I don't know where those pictures are from. The beds are disgusting. The carpet is ripped up and stained everywhere and people trip over it. It gets much worse. There are no actual therapists or psychiatrists; staff may have taken an online course somewhere along the way. They are absolutely awful. You can tell they read some exercises in a book or online, but they don't really understand the point of them or why they're doing them. What makes it very, very disheartening, is that although the counselors have no idea what they're doing, they are extremely confident in themselves and they think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread, and that makes them cold and uninterested. DEFINITELY, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE ANY KIND OF MENTAL STRUGGLE - i.e., depression, anxiety, and definitely nothing any more serious than either of those, because not only do they not know how to handle it, but they flat out don't believe in it and they will not help you - they will ignore you and tell you to go away. Here's the kicker - when I have depression or anxiety attacks at home, I try to go for a run - you are NOT ALLOWED TO EXERCISE at this place, at least for a couple months - they claim it is because they are afraid you have a heart condition, but I think they don't want to feed people much. There was only one female counselor when I was there, she was the worst human being I've ever met. She will make you feel terrible about yourself and lie right to your face. If you're forced to go here, please, do whatever you can to avoid being assigned to the lady counselor. So after the counselors' hours, which is basically always - then it's just the nurses. Some of the nurses are okay, but the best one was leaving as I was about finished there. He was a good guy, but yeah he's gone. You're not allowed to contact your family. They drag you to AA and NA meetings with the SHADIEST people in the world down there in the weird ghetto that is DAVIE, FL. I came out much much worse than when I went in, but I was able to go somewhere else and start over. This was not only a waste of time, but a gigantic leap backward in which I lost a lot of faith in recovery and health professionals and it took me a long time to convince myself that this place really was just THAT bad, THAT much worse than anywhere else on the planet. Do not go. Please.

I was slightly hesitant about entering an inpatient rehab for my alcohol problem, but was very delighted to find a welcoming place that very much understood me and could provide the help I needed. I felt very comfortable with the staff, therapists, and doctors who explained things to me throughout the different phases of my treatment. I feel that R.I.S.F. has provided me with education and tools that have resulted in a new level of awareness for myself about the seriousness of substance abuse. I would hope that others can also experience the life-saving program this facility has shown me. What gets transmitted to the clients that come through these doors is in my opinion, priceless. I feel blessed.

Filthy — The bathrooms are disgusting; you would surely think they would be able to afford new, clean bathroom rugs. No one gets out before three months. Almost everyone attending is involved in education in New Jersey, and that is because NJEA union reps receive several thousand dollar stipends for sending someone there. There is a pool — may be open 2 or 3 times while you’re there. There is also a basketball hoop, but the basketball doesn’t hold air. If you are being treated for depression and/or anxiety, as was my loved one, good luck. They will insist you are an addict and deny you proper medication. Sneaky, intimidating staff. You have no say in your treatment whatsoever.

Coming to RISF was a humbling, eye-opening experience. Although my condition wasnt due to substance abuse of any kind, the staff at Detox was great in accomodating theirselves to me and my issues. I found the tech's to be very nice and approachable. I never felt uncomfortable with any of the staff members. My therapist was awesome and she helped me out as much as she could when it came to being able to communicate with my daughter daily, which was essential to my recovery. Upon arrival to the White House, the new directives and procedures were clear and concise. My new therapist here was very thorough and straight forward and thats the type of personality I needed for my recovery. In all, I'm grateful for my stay here and feel confident that I'm leaving in the right direction.

RISF was able to help me grow personally. I benefited most from my peer groups. Being able to confide in them helped me last longer in groups and meetings. I was here for a total of 45 days and there has been a dramatic change in my behavior. I went from not even going into groups and meetings, to lasting 9 mins to 32 min to sitting through the majority of them. I have some severe space issues and was able to get comfortable enough with some of my peers to last through them. I am continuing treatment elsewhere before going home to work on my mental health.

The staff and counselors at RISF are top notch. They go above and beyond the call of duty to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Counselors are very transparent, real, and reachable at anytime. The schedules provides an opportunity for you to get personal with the counselors and your peers in group. Please do no allow you to get discourage by the visual appearance of the facilty. It does not represent what they have offer to your recovery. I have been blessed to be given the oppportunity to attend this treatment center. It has changed my life and I'm confident it will continue changing many more. Thank you RISF!!

strength:Responsive to all my concernsweakness: N/A As my wife progressed in her addictions, I was desperate for help. I called on a Friday night at 10:00 pm. By Saturday morning 7:00 am, my wife was on a plane to The Recovery Institute of South Florida in Ft. Lauderdale. All through the time my wife was in the program, responded to my every and frequent phone calls. Three weeks into my wife's stay, her health insurance was canceled. One phone call , and the issue was resolved the next day, allowing my wife to continue treatment. She always made me feel as though all of my concerns and problems were very important, and never made me feel like a burden. I could go on and on about how wonderful she is, but what I need to say is that ealth Care Assistance Member Support saved my wife's life, and our entire family. I could never thank her enough for everything she has done.

strength:Superior support for work related issues. Terry is always available for follow-up upon completion of the program. weakness:I wish they were all over the world! They helped me through a very difficult time in my life and guided me through the intimidating process of defending myself against disciplinary action from my employer. They came through like the knight in shining armor! Terry, of HCAMS, is my hero, and I will never ever forget his courage and determination. He was the candle of light in the darkest of moments. So when management tries to prey on you, pray for Terry to be the one to defend you against them. Decades of experience make his advocacy priceless when the sharks are circling you.

I also learned a lifetimes' worth of relevant information on the disease of addiction, group therapy, individual therapy, anxiety, depression, obsessive/compulsive disorder, denial, the importance of spirituality, relaxation and relapse prevention. This program has changed my life. I was provided with relevant and insightful information in each session as well as good reading material. The therapists have a genuine concern for your well being and, as long as you have an open mind, you will be able to learn something. There were plenty of one on one sessions as well as group sessions and each was well managed and helpful. Art therapy was awesome, going to outside meetings was beneficial, and the staff were friendly and nice. I have learned so much and feel much more confident in myself. I would recommend RISF to anyone that is struggling.

The Recovery Institute of South Florida has provided me with group as well as individual therapy. The group therapy provided coping skills, life skills, insight into addiction and mental health education. I had individual therapy with committed and well versed therapists that tailored a treatment plan to my needs. I liked that the community was small. It allowed me to to have a great sense of support and develop friendships that continue beyond our time in treatment together.

I had the opportunity to stay at RISF this past fall because of my alcoholism. I never thought I had a problem until I was sat down by family, close friends, and coworkers. I always drank to get drunk and for years it was only on the weekends, but then with job stress it turned into everyday and I built up quite the tolerance. I had to go into detox upon arrival- I was kept comfortable until I was moved over to the facility for my treatment. I had a wonderful and nurturing relationship with therapists, gained weight back with help from an actual nutritionist , and was able to take time to do things sober and one day at a time. We went to the beach and LA fitness, did art therapy and yoga. It was truly good for the soul, and I\'ll be forever grateful. I am almost 5 months clean and sober.

I was fortunate to receive alcohol treatment at RISF. I was even more fortunate to have had a therapist by who, I must admit, did not have an easy time convincing me that I needed treatment. It was difficult for me to admit I was and alcoholic and for me to realize that my life was out of control. She, through effective counseling and support helped me see that I, and I alone, was responsible for my addiction--another fact that I reluctantly came to admit. Not only did she not give up on me, and more importantly, did not give in to me, that I finally admitted to myself that I needed help. She and the rest of the staff was there to guide me, and I realized that my posse of bartenders did not do the trick. With the help of her and the rest of the staff, namely one other woman, did I come to realize that there was a better way to live my life. I am now about to complete 10 months sober, more months than I\'ve had in the last 50+ years. I now am enjoying my relationship with my wife, children, grandchildren, friends and the many new friends I have through AA meetings. I my own mind, I had to realize that I wanted what AA was freely giving and that the attitude adjustments suggested at RISF were the foundation for a better life. Thank you to my therapist, RISF, and all staff that made this possible. As I used to say to all departing clients when they were leaving RISF, I will not wish you good luck, because luck is not involved. Your were taught how to approach the future. You know what to do now, just do it. Let go, Let God THANKS

I was here five days until left. The facility was dirty. The staff was no help at all... I was lied to by in order to get me down to the facility. He promised me everything under the sun, just to find I\'d need to attend AA and NA meetings although I\'ve never done a drug in my life. They will keep you for exactly as many days as your insurance will pay and then send you home. Oh, and I dare you to find a client there not from New Jersey... Take someone who may or may not have a problem, send them a thousand miles away from their family or support system, and place them in the \"care\" of a group of incompetent \"professionals\". Please believe me, if you get into a situation in your life where you need and or want help, there are so many competent places in New Jersey. Do not go to this god awful place. It will not help, and depending on what you are dealing with, will be detrimental beyond words

I had a horrible experience here. I was here 3 years ago and was put on so many medications... I remained sober but am active member of a 12 Step program. The place was dirty, food was terrible, I never saw a doctor, I was lied to by the man who told me he would help me (the owner) and set up for an awful 86 days. Lost financial stability and almost my job because of the facts I was never informed. A terrible place.

This was my second time at RISF and the new residence is a major improvement and the new counseling house is an upgrade. My therapist was a former tech, which in itself is wonderful to see someone better themselves. She, however was incredibly toxic, resulting in her groups closing down and not trusting her... I\'m being fair in this assessment; I have no axe to grind. She mimicked, belittled, and was straight out unstable. While I was there clients were berated for not sharing. This phenomenon was directly proportional to atmosphere created by this one counselor. She shared issues from private counseling sessions in groups. Her sessions consisted of googled worksheets showing a severe lack of preparation. I don\'t question this persons intentions, only her abilities. Finally, I was denied a day pass to go to west Florida to be in the safest possible position for storm. I wasn\'t allowed a phone call to my mentally ill mom so she didn\'t have to worry, I was forced to leave complex and use neighbors phone. When the air went out we lived in an 88 degree apartment for 4 days then were blamed for it not working. Can you recover at RISF? Yes! However, the belief that you can do anything you wish as an institution bc nobody will believe an addict is a very poor practiced philosophical principle. Some staff are also manipulative by using families against each other. Now we are all aware that addicts have hurt their families, but time and time again therapists took advantage of their abilities to contact family members, even once to solicit money for a client who wasn\'t never presented with the financial proposal. Please understand if you have a sick loved one none of these complaints justify you not sending him/her there. They are just things that need to be improved and some things to look for. There is also no career counseling, their idea of helping you with your job is a letter of completion. Not once in 90 days is there a discussion with union reps.... etc.... two of us returned home after being told things would be fine, only to not be able to return to work. Clients are expecting risf to fix their lives, only to follow through on their promises!!!

The worst ever. food was ok and that is the only positive I can say about this place. The techs for the most part are ok as long as you you can get them off their cell phones. The \"head tech is a joke, he never lets his cell phone leave his hand. The nurses and dr\'s if you actually get to see them is a miracle in itself. The head nurse is rude, and dismiisiveve . The only way this place continues to operate is becuase of one man and he continues to represent unions in NJ PA , where he sends people in trouble and promises things he won\'t deliver
