Philosophy

Recovery is an individual journey and it begins with the person that decides to come to our healing ranch. Each person comes with a unique chemical, biological, and psychological makeup, as well as unique experiences, stressors, and trauma that all play a part in their addiction and recovery. In addition, each person comes with their own idea of what they would like their recovery to look like. There are many evidenced based models and supports that can be used to achieve long-term recovery.

Son was admitted here, I was never allowed to speak to him the entire time he was there, he asked to call me and they would not allow it. I told him after he was discharged that I left a message with his therapist, but never heard back, he said he never saw a counselor or therapist the entire time he was there. He said all food was microwave food. Now I'm getting a bill for 115K for this 4 week stay, after insurance has paid for his stay. I call the number on the bill, which "has been disconnected." Very shady place. I want to report this to someone as a fraudulent treatment center.

Great
I was a client at River Ranch for alcoholism. My case worker met me at the front steps upon arrival and immediately comforted me and shared her sobriety story. She made me feel at ease and was so kind throughout my stay. I learned quickly that I wasn't alone with my disease and that others understood exactly what I was going through, despite our different walks of life. That gave me hope that I could recover and that this addiction did not define me. They also taught me some tools to deal with stress and anxiety. The facility itself and surrounding grounds are well maintained. There are goats and donkeys which I absolutely loved. They have soccer balls, basketball, volleyball, and trails you can walk. There were some issues like retrieving items quickly. Sometimes you had to wait longer than you wanted. And the phone list starts at 8 am with about 10-12 time slots. That was upsetting for some that could not get on the list, however I only had maybe 2 incidences with that and was allowed to use the phone if absolutely needed. My experience overall here has been enlightening. There are a variety of clients that may not share the same views but we seemed to get along. I highly recommend this facility and hopeful about my future.

Excellent
I chose this place so I could get a fresh start on life and needed to get away and work on myself. The people here made it very easy for me to do that. I always had someone to talk to if I had a problem. I had good and bad days but I felt accomplished. I was able to ease into my group settings helped me be able to stay. I love having options. I have been sober for 32 days and I am going to miss this place.

I hand picked this facility wanting to get help for my addiction for my family, not because I was influenced by court or for any other reason. And because I wanted to find a better way to live. After careful consideration of the facilities policies on phone calls, visitations, and other positive things I gave them my money. After the facility failed to keep their word I wrote a cordial complaint. I finally got to call my son after 8 days in the facility. Before entering we were guaranteed weekly visits with our children. As well as phone call hours every night from 7-9. On my 9th day I looked so forward to contacting my son. Only for other patients to tell me I had to get on a "phone call list" which was put out very early every morning. This was NOT MADE CLEAR ever. After writing my complaint, the facility coordinator called me into her office. She personally attacked me when I complained in SEVERAL ways. After not being able to contact my son I woke up at 6:30 to get on this phone list on day 10. I was told it would be put out around 8 am before breakfast. Not only was the list out before 7 am-not 8, it also was completely full. There were only 10 spots per night to begin with. I was immediately called into the office, where she picked up not the company phone, but her personal cell phone to call my husband and told him I was being discharged. After sounding my letter off to my roommates who strongly felt the same way, they offered to sign it. I immediately made it abundantly clear that I did not ask anyone to sign anything. They willingly and eagerly volunteered, as many feel the rules are unclear and inconsistent. She told my husband I wrote a "petition" and was being toxic to their environment. They would not tell me beyond 1 supervised visit when I could see my child. All of my complaints to the employees dissipated into thin air and I fought for every right I was promised after I put my life and money in their hands. When I told her I would not leave quietly as I'd done nothing wrong to be kicked out, she threatened to have me escorted out with the help of Tarrant County. Others who wrote bad reviews were COMPLETELY ACCURATE. I also was told that I manipulated situations to get my way. I only asked for what I was promised. If you read these complaints everything being vocalized is consistent with other complaints. All I asked for was what I was promised before I paid the establishment. I Only hope the owner knows that his coordinator of the facility is unprofessional and confrontational. I know there is nothing I could have done different. I packed my things and asked for a copy of the complaint that got me kicked out, only to be denied my right to this. She has wrongfully discharged people I'm reading, who have since died from their addictions. I can't express the grief or pain experienced while there. I completed detox and was there 10 days before discharge. I was supposed to be there and paid for 30. Please, do your research before checking into this establishment. When I vocalized other patients had their grandchildren under 12 visited another patient, she threatened to fire the facilitator of this. I may experience a painful custody battle and divorce as a result of my wrongful discharge. In order to write my review I had to give the establishment 1 star, otherwise I would rate it a 0. I was promised a call back to let me know whether or not I would receive a copy of my own written complaint, I am still waiting. It makes complete sense why she would not give this to me. I did nothing to get kicked out of Riverwalk Ranch but will not let this affect my sobriety. Please do not send your loved ones to this disorganized and unfair establishment.

Second time to treatment (yes I needed to go in again) I ended up here. For 11 days I was kept in detox, although I had informed them when I got there that I spent 3 days in detox prior to arriving. I saw a "therapist" who asked me online questions one time while I was there and during my 30 minute meeting with her someone interrupted us to collect the money for the people living in IOP. At that point I tried to leave but they would not allow me to as my insurance company had approved me to stay for an additional 2 weeks. I stayed and went to group sessions where there would be no counselor to run the group. The rules would change by the minute. I contacted my insurance company and they informed the facility to release me as they would no longer pay for a patient receiving no treatment at all. I am sober now and have been since I arrived and was finally allowed to come home.. but not because of this facility. I'm sober because I never want to end up in the situation I was put in at Riverwalk Ranch.

Just got my wife back. This place is a joke. It’s a fancy prison. We were lied to about everything so they could fill there beds. It was nothing but lies a deceit for profit. There are no doctors there. She was over medicated. They have nurse techs giving out medications. Where I come from only LPNs and RNs give meds. After computer failure they had no idea what medications to give. They started asking patients what their taking. If you are an illegal drug abuser and used to being institutionalized this is the place for you. If you are a legal prescription drug user that just wants help off opiates without being locked down and treated like a criminal, DO NOT GO HERE!!
