Referral to a MICA House in the area for my aftercare. I did not relapse after leaving the facility.

I went into St. Mary's looking to get clean and they were wonderful this one nurse in particular was fantastic. They have great staff and groups; however, some nurses were not so good.

They have a friendly staff but the paternalistic admitting policies were a downfall.

Plenty of staff. Classes and gatherings should be longer. I like the facility in general ...But their entrance into the program is a bit rough & made me feel like a criminal!

They employ counselors who have experienced addiction first-hand. They take care to make sure the patients physical health is taken to account. I would have enjoyed being able to have more contact with my family throughout my stay. They helped me look inside myself for answers and strength, rather than depend on others or a specific substance to mask how I feel. Although I had a tough time adjusting to some specific rules like no cigarette smoking, cell phones, and no internet use, I quickly realized that I had brought MYSELF into that situation and decided to "suck it up". Most staff showed genuine concern and care and were available whenever needed.

Very Good
Teaching about addiction was great. It was a great place to start recovery. However, there were not enough staff.

They are always there for my loved one. They are really good about helping people. However, they are also very hard on people, making them want to leave.

The patient spends too much time alone and is not allowed visitors other than immediate family. In fact, if you call, they won't even tell you that he is there. ... Very poor follow-up and pretty much a waste of time. Were better with the initial crisis management, but the after care for more than a month was a waste. The could perhaps be used as a starting point for any veteran. PTSD is rampant and the VA does not seem to be helping that much.
