DO NOT GO HERE. I was treated at summit oaks and I only came out worse then I came in physically and mentally. I was treated for depression and was supposed to stay there for around a week but ended up being there for 3 weeks instead. This place is like a prison with some activites and therapists. The nurses are are either really kind or just plain controlling. I never had any of the nurses be bad to me but that was because I was afraid of disobeying them. All I learned was how to lie and fake getting better so i could get out of that place ASAP I did not learn how to deal with my depression any better and got more anxiety and a worn out body. Please look elsewhere for help. This place does not help.

it offered a holistic approach that works to strengthen the person and addressing their needs. it costs a lot and is not long enough to ensure success. They needed to provide more aftercare services. The aftercare services were not at all adequate, and that is probably one of the more important aspects of the program.

Strengths: accepted my insurance, had beds, showers, and good food throughout the day, full-time staff, some art supplies. Weaknesses: no treatment-mainly a storage area for detox, no specialties-just a "one-size-fits-all", main strategy is to put on medication and discharge, no time outside, no fitness facilities, no meditation or yoga or library or study area, limited visitation, irritable workers, rushed meals, no activities, locked out of your room for the day. It was a good place if you want a break and would like to just sit inside in a chair all day. If you're looking for active treatment-please look somewhere else.

Iop staff are ok but the business department is disorganized and unreliable. They tell you one cost for all services, even when you check and re-check, then you are still billed outrageous costs for services they told you you were already paying for. Any progress I made with my depression went right down the tubes because of this and now I\'m even more depressed AND in dept. !! Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else!

In August 2015. I spent 10 days at the hospital. I was given excellent service from my arrival to departure. I was detoxing from alcohol I also needed an evaluation of my meds. I found the psychiatric doctors to be good and informative. I really appreciated the dedicated nursing and assistants. They were very helpful in helping with my needs. I think the food was good I enjoyed the meals esp the fruit platters. Overall I believe that this facility should have at least 4 stars. Thank you for your help

This review is easy. If you\'ve ever watched the TV show Locked up Abroad...this place is just like that. One only needs to enter the lobby to know what\'s going on in dining area for the the patients. Mice scurrying everywhere. They don\'t clean up the from the patients common room until just before visiting hours. Yeah, that\'s what that awful smell is the deodorizer is trying to cover. Fellow patients here are pretty scary. Can\'t say I blame them. If you\'re suffering major depression and there\'s not room from you in the psyche department of your local hospital, don\'t let them send you here. I had to get the Head of the psyche ward at my local hospital to personally call and transfer my daughter out to his facility. Nothing you say to the staff gets past the phone\'s receiver.

I was there a few years ago and I had been to a lot of detoxes/rehabs and I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones I have been to. I honestly can say I don't have one bad thing to say about this place. The staff is great, groups are very good and I got a lot out of them. I had a great stay there.

My 20 year old daughter, who is a recovering addict, has recently felt stable enough to explore the possibility of an underlying disorder (perhaps depression) and made arrangements to get a diagnosis at Summit Oaks. Having spent about 18 months at Florida rehabs, she was interested in seeing what her home state of New Jersey had to offer in terms of mental health and drug and alcohol recovery care. The admissions process took hours. They were gravely understaffed or uninterested, or both. When any individual with an addiction or a manic episode is finally willing to go to treatment, it is tantamount to a sin to keep them waiting (with desperate family members) so long they not only leave before being admitted, but may be leaving only to die of an overdose. The main building of Summit Oaks is pretty, traditional, clean and bright. The rooms for the patients are cold (temperature was miserably cold) and the blankets were wretched and thin. My daughter noticed that there was a preponderance of senior citizens there and felt outraged that the elderly were subject to such threadbare facilities with rotten food and a real lack of caring enthusiastic staff. I can only imagine that New Jersey pays these employees the bare minimum... If you can, send your kids to Florida for treatment. I can tell you that strangely insurance will cover much more and for a longer period of time (which is essential). It is a sad state of affairs that mental health is still not treated with the same importance that say tonsillitis is in this country. But the profit model rules all. Good luck in your search.

Terrible experience!! There is no realistic recovering. One TV. Games with no matching parts...My son had a mattress with a slice down the middle from top to bottom both sides! No one thought twice of putting a sheet on it! Just an example of the care and attention to detail. There were daily fights that needed breaking up by staff. My son was hungry after my bringing it to the attention of the non attentive staff he got more food. Very dreary with not one painting etc. Patient advocate was pleasant and tried to help with communication with Dr and social worker but nothing got accomplished. My son left and is home with us. He is 19 and it has been a month since discharge. Not one phone call to see if he is ok. Not one word on discharge to us his family. I can go on and on. DO NOT GO TO SUMMIT OAKS HOSPITAL! Nothing to do for patients but group therapy 3 times a day and then stare at blank walls!
