I went to this facility back in November of last year. One thing I noticed is that when I got there they said that I had a infection which I do believe that I did have. I have attended several rehabs and by far this one of the worst that I have ever gone to. There was not a Dr. on premises he was a Dr. that was retired I had seen him just once in the three weeks that I was there. All contact with Dr. was through calls or emails that staff sent to him. In April I finally went to the Dr. back home well it was actually to late because the infection had spread into my right foot and I lost my leg from below the knee. Perhaps if a Dr. had been on the premises then maybe I could have received the right antibiotics to have prevented this infection. I found most of the staff very rude. Please do not let the pictures of how shiny everything is because that is not correct. When we go outside to smoke the side walks were hardly ever cleared from the snow making it very treacherous to walk down to the smoke area. zJust to be honest I would do some serious investigating before I would advise anyone to go there. No I did not finish my time thee and I had to beg my husband to come get me. He knew from the sound in my voice that I was in trouble at this facility. This disease of alcoholism is extremely difficult and dangerous and I am still trying my very best to maintain my sobriety. What sobriety that I have at this time is based on my work with AA. The Taos facility did absolutely nothing to help me at all. Be wise before you choose this place research wisely.

This is the only treatment center I have ever attended. My experience was very positive. It is what you make of it that can determine the experience. The facility is great and in an awesome location. The staff is excellent and caring. The surrounding area is beautiful and you get to be with nature which is highly therapeutic. I would recommend this place to anyone suffering from addiction.

Vista Taos was an incredible experience for me. The staff was very professional and my counselor was the bomb!! The family program was also awesome! The counselors helped me resolve problems with my family that we had struggled with for YEARS!! I can\'t say enough good things about my experience at Vista. I am a totally new person because of my sobriety and I could NOT have done it without Vista. I know because I had tried, and TRIED to get sober on my own. SO grateful for my sobriety and SO, SO grateful for Vista Taos!!! 💕 Oh, and the food was super delicious! 👍👍.

Place stinks. You have to pay for the treatment by the 3rd week. After that they want you to leave so someone else can have ur bed. No 21 day or 30 day stay here. Of all the individuals that were there while I was, relapsed, Me included. I kept in touch with most every one. so I know. Go here and you will be spitting against the wind. Just send your money to me instead! By the way, by keeping in touch with all the people there are only 2 of us who are now together and for several years. We helped each other which is a great thing. Love her and she's my rock. Understand Vista Taos did nothing for either one of us. And we were 2 of the people kicked out to open beds and pull in income for two poor soles begging for help!

Official Facility Response
I have worked in the addiction treatment field first as a counselor, now 20+ years as an addiction psychiatrist. I have experience with a large number of treatment facilities and I have learned that no matter how good a program is, it absolutely depends on the quality of the staff. Unfortunately, this field has a way of attracting less than quality providers. Your comment suggests that your experience at Vista dates back several years. I was asked to become Medical Director to assist in making Vista Taos a premier facility for healing both patients and families struggling with alcoholism and related drug addictions. This can only occur when everyone employed shares a similar dedication to caring for those that come to us. Our Executive Director, Clinical Director, Spiritual Leader, Nursing Manager, from intake, house keeping to dietary - they are all united in providing quality, ethical healing in one of the most beautiful environments I have ever seen. What you experienced is common in some treatment programs but I came to Vista 18 months ago with the understanding that it would not happen here. The staff at Vista Taos has changed a great deal over the past several years and now is without doubt among the best I have ever worked with. We just celebrated our first annual Gratitude Gathering for Alumni and I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of emotion from attendees and staff for what Vista Taos has become. This is a special place and I am grateful to be a part of it.
