TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
One of just 109 (32.0 percent) centers in the state that’s dedicated exclusively to young adults, this 45-day residential treatment program helps those between the ages of 18 and 26 find healing and recovery from complex emotional and mental health problems like codependency, love avoidance, PTSD, trauma, bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety as well as addictions to alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex and love, or work. Ultimately, treatment helps participants address what’s lurking behind their addictive and co-occurring conditions using an individualized plan of recovery that’s based on diagnoses, interests, and personality.
Young adults begin the day by reflecting and tending to their basic hygiene needs. After breakfast, they’ll attend a community meeting and a group therapy session. Afternoons typically have scheduled topic-specific sessions, individual counseling, and 12-step study. Dinner is followed by one more group, an evening meditation, and a 12-step meeting. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and somatic experiencing are also available for those in need. Where appropriate, families receive invitation to attend a intensive and educational five-day family week that’s designed to facilitate improved communication and healthy boundary setting.
The Claudia Black Young Adult Center is led by an internationally recognized author and speaker, as well as a board board-certified addiction medicine physician and psychologist. Nursing staff are on-site 24/7.
