Rehabs 360 Guide

Action Dug Rehabs, also branded as Action Family Counseling, operates multiple residential and outpatient treatment programs throughout California. The organization's Residential Treatment Center (RTC) in Bakersfield provides treatment for adults struggling with substance use disorders or a dual diagnosis. The facility is one of 545 residential, non-hospital treatment centers in the state.

Upon admission, clients are assessed by a clinical treatment team to develop an individualize plan of care. Action Drug Rehabs' programming blends the 12-step model of recovery with evidence-based treatment approaches. If necessary, the facility utilizes medication to alleviate the discomfort of withdrawal.

Depending on the needs and progress of the client, residential treatment lasts between one and three months. During residential treatment, clients attend daily Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and/or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings.

In addition to 12-step immersion, clients also regularly participate in individual and group counseling sessions, meditation sessions, as well as attend psycho-educational classes. On Saturdays, Bakersfield RTC invites loved ones to attend multi-family group sessions. Couples counseling is also available.

In addition to 12-step immersion and traditional programming, clients also have access to a gym, participate in Sunday outings within the community, and enjoy free time for journaling and reflection. Discharge planning occurs throughout treatment, and clinicians may encourage clients to transition into the organization’s intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Accredited by the Joint Commission, the organization employs a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, chemical dependency counselors, and social workers. According to the facility's website, Action's RTC offers a staff-to-client ratio of 5:1.

The 30-bed campus of Action Dug Rehabs's Bakersfield RTC is comprised of three housing units. Residents share double-occupancy bedrooms, and enjoy buffet-style meals prepared by an on-site chef. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated. There are peaceful common areas, and residents have access to a nearby gym. The center also facilitates weekly excursions, which may include trips to the beach or movie outings. .
