ABOUT LEAD RECOVERY CENTER
Situated on a tree-lined suburban street in sunny Costa Mesa, Southern California, LEAD Recovery Center offers two services: a transitional-living facility for young men emerging from more intensive treatment, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for men and women struggling with substance use disorder and dual diagnosis. The facility is adjacent to the John Wayne Airport, conveniently for any clients who need to fly to treatment.
LEAD Recovery Center is a sister facility to Hired Power, a recovery agency based in nearby Huntington Beach that provides intervention and case management services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
LEAD Recovery Center offers long-term programming to bridge the gap between residential care and community life, lasting anywhere between three and 12 months, and sometimes even more. The facility aims to guide its residents toward leading an independent life; as such, one of its guiding principles is the individuality and idiosyncrasy of each client. Residents are encouraged to pursue their own unique pathway, while working with the center's life coaches, sponsors, mentors, and staff.
During their time at LEAD Recovery Center's transitional-living facility, young men will work, study, complete volunteer projects, or otherwise lead a productive life in society, while also working their personal program of recovery — for which there is ample opportunity in Southern California's rich recovery ecosystem.
The IOP (on which residents at the transitional-living facility enroll) involves 20 hours per week of programming. Clients participate in twice-weekly individual therapy, weekly or bi-weekly visits with a psychiatrist for medication management, and group and family therapies. The center uses some evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Beyond therapy and pharmacological treatment, the program is rounded out by life coaching and skills development sessions, in topics such as communication, education, hygiene, and hobbies.
The center is equipped to treat co-occurring disorders such as bipolar disorder, panic disorders, OCD, and eating disorders.
The team includes a PhD-level counselor, a nurse, a licensed marriage and family therapist, registered alcohol and drug technicians, and certified addiction counselors. Several staff members are themselves in recovery.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Residents sleep in shared bedrooms in traditional suburban homes, at least some of which have yards. LEAD Recovery Center prides itself on its roster of adventure and experiential therapies, which take full advantage of the facility's SoCal setting: options include hiking, surfing, fishing, skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and frisbee golf.
Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, affiliated friends or family members, or staff, however, secondary sites did yield one review at the time of this writing: a five-star rating on Google. "LEAD Recovery Center is the best place to send your young adult male for addiction treatment... Their four phase treatment program [can] ensure growth and accountability so these young men can lead sober and productive lives," was the appraisal of M.E., who did not state her relationship to the facility.
For its IOP, LEAD Recovery Center accepts most insurances, on both in-network and out-of-network bases. Housing fees for the transitional-living program are not covered by insurance.
