Writing, making art or engaging in theater can be deeply therapeutic for people working to recover from addiction. Many facilities offer one or several forms of creative arts therapy as a way to help patients learn to express their feelings in productive ways.
  • Client & Family Support Groups

Group therapy is a vital component of addiction recovery treatment, considered as important and effective (sometimes even more so) than individual therapy. Benefits include reducing isolation and loneliness and providing the opportunity to learn from others in recovery. In the addiction setting, group therapy is run by trained professionals who guide participants toward a shared goal of recovery.

Rehabs 360 Guide

Located in the heart of Orange County, Calif., Affinity Recovery provides residential treatment for individuals struggling with addiction. The luxury treatment center’s 30-day holistic program begins with a period of clinically managed detox. Dual diagnosis treatment is available to address co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Prior to enrollment, each client participates in a comprehensive assessment designed to help staff determine the most appropriate level of care. Detoxification services are supported by individual and group therapy, which continues throughout rehab.

The Affinity Recovery website prioritizes the center's commitment to helping clients to reduce stress. In addition to sessions addressing such topics as anger management, self-esteem, and relapse prevention, clients participate in fitness activities, yoga, and meditation. Treatment also incorporates art therapy and 12-step meetings. Client loved ones are encouraged to attend family support groups.

Affinity staff support clients’ continuing care through coordinating outpatient treatment and sober living housing with other facilities.

According to the center’s website, Affinity Recovery maintains close to a 1:1 staff-to-client ratio. Treatment team members include a psychologist, master’s-level therapists, and licensed substance substance abuse counselors.

Emphasizing clients’ comfort, Affinity Recovery's website photographs feature swimming pools, open and modern kitchens, luxury bathrooms, and shared yet spacious bedrooms.

While in treatment, Affinity Recovery clients reside in one of four gender-specific, six-bed homes in Yorba Linda, Ladera Ranch, Newport Beach, and San Juan Capistrano. This facility prides itself on its privacy and individualized care. In fact, non-hospital based residential programs in California have a higher median of 16 clients.

To date, Rehabs.com has received reviews for Affinity Recovery from four former clients. Three praised the facility for its safe and supportive services, characterizing the environment as relaxing and spacious. The alumni also praised the facility's staff. "The staff is friendly and supportive, its a safe environment, and nice properties with great amenities," alum D.S. wrote. However, one alum was critical of the facility, reporting issues with insurance and a lack of commitment or follow-through by the program.

Countering the negative opinion were reviews on the facility’s official Facebook page, which its staff may manage. Two alumni specifically noted that Affinity staff did not give up on them. Of 13 reviewers, 12 awarded the facility five out of five stars. Most represented the staff as exceptionally caring, some citing employees’ personal experience with recovery as a strength. Several also praised various aspects of accommodations, including spaciousness. Groups were described as fun and treatment overall as life-saving.[1]
