Rehabs 360 Guide

One of six Twin Town Treatment Centers throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County, Twin Town of Los Alamitos, Calif., provides outpatient treatment services for teens and adolescents facing substance abuse in the communities of Long Beach, Cerritos, Cypress, Anaheim, Westminster, and Huntington Beach.

Where needed, Twin Town can coordinate detoxification services for clients through an affiliated physician.

To determine the appropriate level of care, clients undergo an initial, no-cost evaluation that includes biological screening and a psychosocial assessment. Treatment combines 12-step principles with individual therapy, group counseling, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Family education and codependency counseling are also available for clients and their loved ones.

Twin Town offers three levels of care. Day (or partial hospitalization) treatment, the most intense level of care, involves eight hours of programming per day, up to six days per week. Conveniently available both mornings and evenings, the intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets three hours daily, up to six day a week. Clients who successfully complete the IOP receive continuing care services for four subsequent months, which includes aftercare treatment twice weekly.

Respectively, the day treatment and IOP at Twin Town account for one of 242 (18.5 percent) and 517 (39.4 percent) of such programs in the state. There’s also an active alumni organization which meets monthly.

Along with these outpatient options, Twin Town runs an alcohol and drug education program for criminal justice clients and a 10-session track for former clients who have relapsed. The former can be used for employer referrals; it includes regular urinalysis testing.

Twin Town Treatment Center of Los Alamitos employs licensed substance abuse counselors, family therapists, and case managers. Many are also in recovery, providing a heightened level of empathy to clients and their families.

Twin Town is one of just 182 (13.9 percent) of facilities in the state of California that's accredited by the Joint Commission.

Alumni responses are mostly positive. Collectively, the six individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date described Twin Town as a “good program” with a hands-on, knowledgeable staff and a “safe and loving” environment. “It was one of the best experiences of my life during one of the worst times of my life,” wrote one anonymous reviewer.

The only outlier, V.G.Y., called Twin Town a “Horrible place” and made claim that here “Coworkers mess around with other coworkers.”

On Google, where nine individuals awarded Twin Town a near-perfect average rating of 4.9 out of five stars to date, reviews were similarly positive. “Twin town changed my life dramatically,” wrote M.D. in a representative five-star sentiment. “It is an amazing program, I’m so thankful for getting into this program.”[1]

Fees for IOP and PHP treatment start at $210 per day. Twin Town also accepts insurance and is in-network with HMO, PPO, EPO, EAP and managed care companies; it is one of just 734 (56 percent) of facilities statewide that accepts private health insurance.

Financial assistance may also available for clients who qualify.
