Located six miles from the beach in west Los Angeles, Authentic Recovery Center (ARC) offers residential and outpatient treatment for adults struggling with substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders. The rehab also provides medical detox, which is available in just 15 percent of treatment facilities in California.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at ARC begins with a phone interview, which includes a psychological assessment and psychiatric evaluation. Residential treatment typically lasts 30 days and includes a mix of individual counseling, and group therapy, as well as family therapy.
Treatment methods combine 12-step principles with evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), the latter of which is utilized by 50.3 percent of California treatment facilities.
Outpatient options include an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which is typically used as a transition option for clients as they prepare to reintegrate into society. ARC is among the 39.4 percent of facilities in California to offer an IOP.
Aftercare.planning is available, and the facility also provides free alumni services for life, which include regular support group meetings, crisis lines, and access to online recovery chat rooms.
ARC’s treatment staff consists of physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, experiential therapists, certified substance abuse counselors, and other licensed professionals. To date, the four individuals polled by Rehabs.com on the matter praised the facility's staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
ARC's home-like facility accommodates up to 20 people at a time. Both private and semi-private rooms are available, and some bathrooms feature whirlpool tubs. Outdoor sitting areas are also available for relaxation and recreation. To date, the four individuals polled by Rehabs.com on the matter appreciated the quality of facilities.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The majority of former clients polled by Rehabs.com to date (four out of six) gave ARC positive feedback. They described the treatment as comprehensive, the staff as knowledgeable, and the therapy and groups as helpful. "Great staff top to bottom, good immersement with twelve step program, great facilities, great counseling and groups," wrote an anonymous alum in a representative review. In addition, two reviewers polled on more granular metrics offered high four and five-star ratings for the facility's counseling options, level of family participation, and the likeliness of recommending the facility.
ARC also fared well on secondary sites, where it earned average ratings of 3.8 out of five stars based on four Google reviews and five out of five stars based on four Yelp reviews. The rehab also received a five out of five star rating based on the opinions of 30 individuals on Facebook, which the facility may manage.
Across all three sites, former clients praised the program for its dedicated staff and commitment to continued care. "The continued love and support I'm still receiving from ARC lets me know that I always have a support system to help guide me through tough times," Alexys wrote in a representative review on Yelp.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
At the time of this writing, the two loved ones surveyed by Rehabs.com offered mixed reviews. Lisa described the program as "highly individualized" and noted that her loved one benefited greatly from treatment. L.R. described the staff as "well-trained" and called the residential program "fantastic," but noted that the IOP was inferior. "The IOP program is not recommended. The attention is given to the residential clients and the IOP clients are not given the at time, therapy, and attention that is needed," they wrote.
Fees start at $28,500 a month and $75,000 for 90 days. The center’s programs are covered by in-network providers Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, and Cigna. To date, the four individuals polled on the matter offered mixed, though generally positive, opinions concerning the facility's cost.
