ABOUT BALBOA HORIZONS
Located in Newport Beach, California, Balboa Horizons offers residential and intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment for adults struggling with addiction or co-occurring disorders. It's one of 197 non-hospital substance abuse treatment facilities in California (just 15 percent of all facilities in the state) to provide on-site medical detox.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
All clients undergo a comprehensive assessment upon intake to help staff form an individualized treatment plan. Programs are gender-specific, offering men and women opportunity to freely and openly discuss topics and life issues specific to each of them. Groups also cover a wide area of gender-indifferent topics, such as trauma, grief and loss, and living with co-occurring disorders.
Though treatment takes place in separate facilities, both men and women follow a curriculum that’s built around group and individual therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), 12-step meetings and education, and relapse prevention workshops. The facility also utilizes dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), a modality used by a little more than half of all treatment facilities in California.
Residents benefit from holistic and recreational activities including yoga, meditation, art therapy and music therapy. Balboa Horizons also holds a four-day family program which offers on-site recovery meetings, education on the various effects of addiction, self-care, and more.
Balboa Horizons is among the 34 percent of rehabs in California that provide long-term treatment, offering residential programs that last up to 90 days. Program graduates may progress into Strive, Balboa Horizon’s IOP, which provides outpatient counseling, life skills training, assistance with educational or vocational goals, and more.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team includes a board-certified psychiatrist and medical director, as well as licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed clinical social workers, therapists, certified addiction counselors, and case managers.
