Facility Highlights

  • Relapse Prevention
  • Grief and Loss Therapy
  • Individual Counseling

  • Residential Treatment

Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
  • Family Program

Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.

Rehabs 360 Guide

Located in Pasadena, Calif., Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center is a residential facility for adult men and women struggling with substance abuse. The rehab admits voluntary clients, but also has two in-custody programs in partnership with the Los Angeles Sheriff's department.

Through these programs, individuals convicted of drug-related offenses are sent to the rehab instead of prison. Only non-medical detox is offered, which typically lasts three to five days. As such, the rehab is among 15 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities in the state that offer residential, non- hospital detox.

Treatment programs typically are 30, 60, or 90 days depending on the needs of the client. An aftercare program is offered once clients complete residential treatment. There also is a long-term residential option that lasts four to six months, as well as an intensive outpatient program (IOP). In California, Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center is among 39.4 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities that offer an IOP.

Patients progress through three steps of treatment by reaching certain goals and benchmarks. Treatment consists of evidence based methodologies including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, individual counseling, group therapy, recovery-related reading and writing assignments, and 12-step meetings both on-site and in the community.

Specialized groups are offered for anger management, chronic relapse, gender-specific issues, parenting, food and weight issues, and grief and loss. The facility also is actively involved in the surrounding recovery community and encourages clients to participate in it as well.

Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center is accredited by The Joint Commission, which places it among 13.9 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities in the state with this nationally recognized credential. It employs clinicians, therapists, and program managers with specific training in co-occurring disorders, addictionology, cognitive behavior therapy, and social work. All clinical caseworkers are certified or registered with the California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAADAC).

According to the facility’s website, the majority of staff are alumni of the program who have undergone an intensive nine-month internship before becoming employees.

The 130-bed facility sits on a two-and-a-half acre campus with residential bungalows, landscaped common areas, a garden, a café, and a store. There also is a workout room, a library, a woodshop, and an automotive garage. To date, the three individuals polled on the matter by Rehabs.com gave the facility two four-star ratings and a perfect five-star rating for its cleanliness.
