ABOUT ACCREDITED COUNSELING & INTERVENTION SERVICES, INC.
From a pretty, tree-lined street in a residential neighborhood in San Jose, in California's Bay Area, Accredited Counseling & Intervention Services (ACIS) provides interventions, consultations, and referrals to treatment, as well as a variety of outpatient counseling and coaching services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
All services begin with a 15-minute phone consultation, which is provided free of charge. During this interview, staff assess the situation and determine the best course of action.
For those families that require an intervention to ensure that their loved one receives the help they need, ACIS can help to educate, prepare, and empower families before the intervention is staged. For individuals who require detox or inpatient treatment, ACIS can provide referrals to 7,000 treatment centers, which include suitable options for varied budgets and treatment needs.
If outpatient care is needed, ACIS can provide services itself, in the form of individual and family counseling for adults and adolescents, and couples' and group counseling for adults only. Clients can choose whether they wish to pursue an abstinence-based recovery or stick to harm reduction, which empowers individuals to make safe, healthy choices about their substance use, while not insisting on abstinence as the only goal of treatment. In addition to problematic substance use, counseling can address areas such as sexual trauma, PTSD, chronic relapse, gambling, pain management, coping skills, and any co-occurring mental health disorders. Group therapy sizes do not exceed eight people.
The center also offers recovery coaching, a service that provides accountability, support, and fresh perspectives for those embarking on the road to recovery, but does not aim to provide therapy.
ACIS employs certified addiction counselors, one of them educated to master's level, and several of them themselves in recovery from addiction. Staff are trained to offer particular support for women, veterans, the elderly, and members of the LGBTQ community, as well as other minorities.
Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, affiliated friends or family members, or staff, but secondary sites did yield some feedback, and it was exclusively positive: at the time of this writing, ACIS had 12 five-star ratings spread between a self-managed Facebook page and Yelp. The reviewers repeatedly described ACIS's staff as resourceful and understanding, and noted that they had made good progress in treatment at the facility. In one representative review on Yelp, M.B. described their counselor as "kind, thorough and compassionate and seemed genuinely interested with helping me," and C.V. added, also on Yelp: "I highly recommend ACIS for any type of counseling services, particularly related to alcohol or drug related addiction issues."
ACIS is not in-network with any insurance providers, but the organization can provide superbills for clients to send to their insurers, in the event that they are eligible for out-of-network benefits.
