  • Family Program

Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
  • Individual Therapy

This term describes one-on-one therapy, in which a patient and trained counselor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist meets privately with a patient to discuss challenges related to lifestyle, work, family and romantic relationships that may have contributed to the development of an addiction.

Action Family Counseling provides residential and outpatient care throughout Southern California including The Ranch and an intensive outpatient program in Simi Valley (https://www.rehabs.com/listings/action-family-counseling-intensive-outpatient-program-990402938/).

Action Family Counseling operates residential facilities in Santa Clarita, Calif., and an intensive outpatient (IOP) program that treats both adults and adolescents, with co-occurring mental health disorders.

Upon admission, clients will undergo an assessment to determine the necessary level of care. Clients may attend treatment as a step-down to residential care or as entry level care for those new to treatment.

Treatment lasts 90 days. Clients are expected to attend treatment a minimum of three days per week for three hours per day.

Action Family Counseling emphasizes 12-step programming in IOP and includes group and individual programming, addiction education, and relapse prevention. Groups are age specific: one for adolescents aged 12 to 17 and another for adults 18 and older. Family sessions meet weekly.

The facility offers aftercare planning and refers clients to other organizations following treatment.

The multi-disciplinary staff at Action Family Counseling includes psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, chemical dependency counselors, mental health and professional counselors, case managers, social workers, and technicians.
