A chemical dependency (alcohol/drug) problem is a complex, multifaceted disease which affects the whole person. A chemical dependency problem is democratic; it does not respect age, sex, race, creed, national origin, education, intellectual level, socio-economic group or preference. It may disrupt a person's physical, psychological, interpersonal, emotional and spiritual life. It can be diagnosed through behavior changes and family problems: Chemical dependency affects biological, social, vocational and educational interactions and thus can disrupt such environments.

ABOUT TWIN TOWN TREATMENT CENTERS IN TORRANCE

Twin Town Treatment Centers (TTTC) operates six outpatient substance abuse treatment facilities in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The Torrance location serves multiple Los Angeles South Bay communities and treats both adults and adolescents (ages 12 to 17) through its suite of programs, which include day treatment, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), continuing care, and a relapse program. TTTC is one of 317 California treatment facilities to provide specialized programming for adolescents, which make up about 22 percent of all facilities in the state.

Counselors can coordinate detox services for those who require medical attention, though detox is not offered on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

An initial interview and assessment is given to all potential clients at no cost. Based on findings from this assessment, clients may be enrolled in day treatment, which includes eight hours of treatment per day for up to six days per week, or IOP treatment, which consists of three hours of programming a day for up to six days per week.

Care is tailored to each individual's needs, and adults and adolescents are treated separately. Program components typically include individual and group counseling, 12-step groups, family therapy, and group therapy, as well as educational workshops to help manage stress, develop communication skills, and learn about addiction as a disease. As participants progress through the program's phases, their number of weekly treatment hours decreases.

Graduates of these programs may participate in continuing care, which includes at least four months of twice weekly aftercare sessions. There's also a monthly alumni support group, as well as a relapse track specifically for former clients who had completed the IOP program but experienced a relapse.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Though the facility's website does not specify the credentials of its treatment staff, it does mention the use of partnerships and referrals with mental health professionals, such as community-based therapists and primary care physicians, to give clients a comprehensive treatment plan. Additionally, 98 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities in New York have continuing education requirements for staff.

TTTC is accredited by the Joint Commission, among the 12 percent of state facilities to receive the accreditation, and certified by the State of California.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

While Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, TTTC earned an average rating of 3.2 out of five stars based on six Google reviews.[1] Of the three former clients who left commentary, two praised the facility for its effective treatment and helpful staff. "I can honestly say that this place saved my life," Brendan wrote in a representative review. "I cannot express how grateful I am to have been a part of there program."

The third alum, Pedro, gave TTTC just two stars and noted that while he liked most of the staff, there a few who needed "improvement."

WHAT STAFF SAY

The two former employees who evaluated TTTC's Torrance facility on Indeed[2] both gave the rehab positive feedback, noting that they were able to work closely with clients, and that the entire treatment team was compassionate and invested in their mission. "Upper management involved and concerned with client and employee welfare," one of the two anonymous former staffers wrote.

FINANCING

According to the facility's website TTTC works with many commercial insurance providers, including Aetna, Cigna, Magellan, and ValueOptions.
