ABOUT TREATMENT ALTERNATIVES
Located minutes from the beach in Boca Raton, Fla. and operating for more than 25 years, Treatment Alternatives (TA) provides rehabilitative care built on evidence-based and experiential therapies. Individuals struggling with addiction can take advantage of the natural environment’s benefits to recovery while attending intensive outpatient programming (IOP).
TA is also one of the just 24.6 percent of Florida facilities to provide full-day, or partial hospitalization programming (PHP). While attending IOP or PHP, most clients reside in the agency’s sober living housing for men at Boca House, or Awakenings for Women. Treatment Alternatives also partners with two local detox centers for initial treatment. Dual diagnosis treatment and an executive track are both available.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Following medical detoxification at a separate Treatment Alternatives facility, individuals may enroll in a 28-day, group-based PHP, which meets seven days a week. The more flexible IOP includes three to five days of treatment each week, three hours at a time. Both programs include an individual therapy session once a week, and the Treatment Alternatives website emphasizes the continuity of care available as clients work with the same counselor throughout successive stages of treatment.
Among the evidence-based modalities used are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-oriented eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT). Holistic offerings include nutritional counseling, yoga, art therapy, acupuncture, and spiritual counseling. Clients also attend educational sessions and 12-step meetings.
During extended care through TA’s sober housing, clients have access to job and life skills training as well as case management, including collaboration with probation offers to support clients with legal obligations. In addition, the facility hosts a periodic weekend family program with lectures, group sessions, and private family counseling.
According to the facility's website, most of the staff at Treatment Alternatives is also in recovery. Treatment team members include master's-level therapists, psychiatrists, licensed social workers, and licensed holistic therapists. The facility maintains a therapist-to-client ratio of 1:10, according to information provided to Rehabs.com by the facility. At least one staff member is actively involved in LGBT outreach, and another is fluent in Russian.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The Treatment Alternatives outpatient center and its sober living facilities are located in upscale Boca Raton and Delray Beach neighborhoods. Website photographs feature recreational activities such as basketball, billiards, weight training, and board games. At least one facility offers a jacuzzi and swimming pool. Visitation and cellphone use are restricted while residents participate in the PHP.
