Rehabs 360 Guide

Located in Boynton Beach, Fla., Insight to Recovery is a residential rehab based on the Florida Model, which means that clients live in supervised residences apart from the main treatment facility. In addition to accommodations, Insight to Recovery provides outpatient treatment to adults struggling with substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders. The facility also offers medically monitored detox, which is available in just 10.9 percent of non-hospital residential treatment facilities in Florida.

Treatment combines 12-step principles with a range of evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), medication management, and psychological evaluations.

The facility also offers holistic activities including yoga, meditation, animal-assisted therapy, nutritional counseling, and sport and adventure therapy. In addition, the facility offers a family education program for loved ones, as well as specialized groups for clients with co-occurring disorders. In 2017, a little more than half (53.6 percent) of all treatment facilities in Florida offered specialized dual diagnosis treatment.

Program options include a partial hospitalization program (PHP), which is the highest level of care and available in only 24.6 percent of treatment facilities in Florida. The facility also offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP), general outpatient treatment, as well aftercare and sober living.

According to the facility’s website, the treatment team includes a certified addiction professional, a licensed clinical social worker, a primary therapist, a medical officer, an operations manager, and a behavioral health technician coordinator.

Insight to Recovery can accommodate 40 residents at a time, and private rooms are available. Pictures published on the facility’s website indicated suburban-style homes with full kitchens and outdoor patios.

Michael, the one alum surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, gave Insight to Recovery a positive review, awarding the facility five out of five stars for its treatment effectiveness and praising the “excellent, kind and caring” therapists. “I would recommend this program to anyone who is ready to change their life,” he wrote.

The facility also fared well on secondary sites, earning one five-star rating on Google[1] and a 4.5 out of five star rating based on the opinions of six individuals on Facebook, which the facility may manage[2]. "You can't teach what these people have," wrote Samantha in a representative review on Facebook. "They have compassion, understanding and there's no judgement."

There was one former client on Facebook, a vet named Mark, who noted that while some aspects of the program were helpful, it was not able to help him deal with his trauma and PTSD issues. "I cant say enough about the staff and how well they treated me but they were not equipped to handle the issues i was dealing with especially the PTSD. They acted as if they understood how to treat combat veterns but failed horribly," he wrote.

To date, the two loved one polled by Rehab.com gave Insight to Recovery positive feedback. Both indicated that the treatment programs were very helpful to their loved ones and that the staff kept them involved and informed during the process. They really went above and beyond to help her succeed and make the right choices," an anonymous loved on write in a representative review.

The other loved one gave high four- and perfect five-star ratings for the facility's family participation, counseling options, the staff's level of experience and training, as well as administrative and discharge planning.
