At Advantage Mental Health, individuals struggling with addiction are provided with a medically-supervised outpatient treatment program that allows patients to participate in work, school, and family events while receiving care. Advantage Mental Health's medically assisted detoxification is offered on an outpatient basis, providing patients with education and substance abuse counseling while simultaneously prescribing FDA-approved medications such as buprenorphine (also known as Suboxone®) to minimize opioid withdrawal symptoms.     At Advantage Mental Health, we offer outpatient medically assisted detoxification treatment, a technique which uses medications to counteract and manage the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.

    Dr. William HerveyChief Medical Officer, Board Cerified
    Dr. Hervey, Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Hervey is a graduate of Loyola University (New Orleans), Georgetown University (MBA) and the University of South Florida (MD). He is board-certified in general psychiatry and served as Chief Resident Physician. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has a waiver from the Drug Enforcement Administration to prescribe buprenorphine as a treatment for opioid addiction.

    Ms. Ramos-Archbold is a psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner. Located in Clearwater, Fla., Advantage Mental Health Center provides treatment services for adults and teens struggling with substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and general psychiatric conditions. All programming, including treatment for addiction, is offered on an outpatient basis. While detox services are not provided on-site, Suboxone maintenance is available. As such, the facility is among 23.2% percent in the state that utilize buprenorphine (Suboxone) in their opioid treatment programs.


All new patients at Advantage Mental Health Center have a one-hour consultation to determine an individualized treatment plan. Advantage Mental Health Center takes a disease-model approach to treating addiction. The clinical team integrates counseling session, educational classes, and when appropriate, medication to provide a holistic approach to care. All clients receive psychiatric evaluations as part of their care to identify an underlying mental health concerns that may contribute to substance abuse.

Treatment is flexible, and many clients continue to attend school or work while enrolled in the program. Sessions typically consist of individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, and life skills training. Clients are encouraged to remain in treatment for as long as they need to receive help.


According to the facility’s website, the treatment team is managed by a board-certified physician specializing in psychiatry and licensed to prescribe Suboxone. The clinical staff includes physicians, psychiatrists, advanced nurse practitioners, and certified addiction professionals.


At the time of this writing, Rehabs.com has received mixed feedback, skewed to the positive from five alumni of Advantage Mental Health Center: three reviews were positive, two were negative. All of the positive reviewers awarded perfect five-star ratings for the facility’s treatment effectiveness, whereas the negative reviewers gave one star and two stars for overall effectiveness.

Positive reviewers praised the therapists and the effectiveness of the program. Alum Eli wrote: “It has changed my life, literally. Everyone that works here really does care.” Another alum added: “Advantage Mental Health is fabulous! From the moment I entered the office I felt safe and cared for.” However, the negative reviewers described poor office practices and a focus on money over treatment. Alum S.G. wrote: "They say they are compassionate but all they care about is the money."

On secondary review sites, Advantage Mental Health Center also received mostly positive reviews to date: four out of five stars based on 19 reviews on Google and 3.8 stars based on 12 reviews on Facebook, which the organization can manage. [1] [2]

Positive reviewers commended the accommodating, courteous, and professional staff and several noted that treatment there saved their life. Kristina, a five-star reviewer on Google, expressed her “gratitude” to the facility and wrote: “I appreciate health centers that are able to ‘weed’ out the drug seekers and concentrate on the individuals that really want to get help, get clean and contribute to the good of our society.”

On the other end, negative reviews considered the staff rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional, and criticized the facility for its insurance and medication practices as well as putting financial concerns ahead of patient care.


To date, a loved one provided Rehabs.com with a positive view of Advantage Mental Health Center. The reviewer awarded the five stars for the facility's overall effectiveness. “Great facility, they helped my sister-in-law get clean,” the loved one wrote.


According to its website, the facility will submit billing codes and statements to clients for insurance purposes for out-of-network providers, which include Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Humana, and United Healthcare. Payment is due at each appointment. Should clients require the professional staff to provide court appearances and testimony, the rate is $495 per hour including travel, preparation, and costs of all legal services.
