  • Samantha Steiger, LCSW
    Samantha Steiger, LCSWClinical Supervisor
    An enthusiastic and compassionate leader of RECO’s clinical team, Samantha brings with her many years of experience in the fields of behavioral health, addiction, and eating disorders. Born and raised in New Jersey, she recently moved to Florida and has been a dynamic addition to our team of clinicians. As our clinical supervisor, she runs client group sessions, conducts frequent clinical meetings, and ensures that all clinical staff are communicating effectively about our clients’ care. Trained in both CBT and DBT techniques, she applies her clinical expertise as she tailors the RECO experience to fit the needs of each individual client.

    A member of team RECO since our founding, Chris wears multiple different hats within his role as Director of Operations. An architect of the program, he aids in designing personalized treatment plans, and also facilitates weekly group sessions, including Motivational Mondays and A Hero’s Journey. Dynamically invested in each client’s progress, he is consistently responsible for ensuring smooth transitions, addressing client concerns, and maintaining communication with all members of the team.

Located in the coastal city of Delray Beach, Fla., RECO Intensive provides a full range of services for adults struggling with substance misuse. Among the facility’s offerings are residential, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and partial hospitalization programs (PHP), as well as aftercare services. Sober living support and detoxification services are also available. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 43 percent of rehabs in Florida offer IOP while 24.6 percent offer PHP.


Upon admission, each client undergoes a comprehensive clinical and medical assessment. The duration of treatment varies from person to person, but RECO Intensive recommends that clients remain in treatment for at least 60 days. A 2017 SAMHSA survey indicates that 20.8 percent of rehabs in Florida offer a residential treatment program that is 30 days or longer.

Clients in treatment engage in individual counseling, group and family therapy, addiction education, 12-step work, and relapse prevention training. There are specialized groups that focus on trauma, nutrition, professional development, and gender-specific topics. The center’s therapeutic approach employs a variety of modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

The facility’s aftercare services include weekly alumni meetings and an Alumni Buddy program which introduces clients to RECO alumni who can support them.


According to the facility’s website, the center employs a specialized team of primary therapists, physicians, behavioral health technicians, and case managers. RECO Intensive also works with a yoga teacher, a nutritionist, and an art therapist. RECO is certified by the Joint Commission, a certification held by 30.4 percent of rehabs in Florida.


RECO Intensive maintains multiple single-family homes, all of which are gender-specific. All properties have shared bedrooms, modern furnishings, and flat-screen TVs. Most apartments feature outdoor space, and a few have game rooms and swimming pool access. RECO provides transportation to therapy and the grocery store. Smoking is not permitted at any of the residential facilities.

RECO Intensive also incorporates holistic and alternative therapies, including art and music therapy, spiritual and mindfulness exercises, and equine therapy. Therapeutic activities include volunteering at the local animal shelter, ropes courses, nature walks, and softball.


Reviews submitted to Rehabs.com from over 50 alumni were nearly unanimously positive at the time of this writing. Numerous reviewers praised the IOP in particular. Alum M.J. went so far as to write "RECO is the best IOP in south Florida" in a representative comment.

The staff and the offered alumni activities also received abundant praise. Alum B. wrote in a representative review: “Great staff they genuinely care after treatment I went there they gave me everything that I needed to go out into the real world they are like a big family there. I still attend alumni meetings whenever possible.”

Reviews on third-party sites were unanimously positive. All 108 reviewers on Google rated RECO five stars out of five[^] as did nearly 80 reviewers on the facility’s official Facebook page, which it can manage.[2]


Reviews from 11 loved ones to date were unanimously positive. Echoing many alumni revoews, D., the father of a client, noted in a representative review that RECO was “a glimmer of hope...” and wrote of his son, “He is recovering, in every sense of the word, and it's all because of RECO.” Other loved ones praised extracurricular activities as well as the staff.


Former staff member P. gave a positive review. She wrote: “Reco Intensive is one of the best facilities that I have every worked with. They are involved with their clients in every aspect of their of their recovery.”


Treatment fees at RECO Intensive vary by client, and the facility does not publish its pricing online. Most insurance plans, including Cigna, Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, and Humana, are accepted.
