Rehabs 360 Guide

Blu by the Sea is a high-end residential rehabilitation center set in the picturesque Gulf Coast city of Destin, Fla. The facility offers highly individualized treatment for adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Medically supervised detox is also available on-site.

Blu by the Sea does not adhere to 12-step principles. Rather, the program employs evidence-based treatment methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) in conjunction with a range of holistic treatments and recreational therapies. The minimum length of stay is 30 days, though some clients stay longer.

The continuum of treatment progresses through four stages. After the initial detoxification stage, a team of psychologists and substance abuse therapists forms a regimen of holistic treatments, physical exercise, and artistic, expressive activities designed to help eliminate cravings. During this phase, clients exercise with personal trainers, enjoy spa treatments, visit the beach, and participate in yoga and art therapy. Once clients have settled into the activity-based schedule, they begin one-on-one counseling, family therapy, and small group therapy sessions.

The final phase of treatment focuses on aftercare planning. The facility assists clients by providing information on community-based support groups, sober living facilities, and outpatient programs.

Blu by the Sea employs a multidisciplinary clinical team of master's and doctoral level therapists, nurses, and experienced mental health specialists. There is a psychiatrist on staff, and clients also have access to dental care, vision specialists, nutritionists, and personal trainers.

Blu by the Sea offers luxury accommodations set on the beautiful coast of East Destin. The common areas and rooms are decorated like a hotel, and the clinic offers a pool, spa, sauna, and oversized baths. Meals are prepared with important vitamin supplements to help clients in their physical recovery.
