My therapist Caitlin helped me get to the root cause of why I didn't feel comfortable enough in my own skin to live life on life's terms. Ian, Amy, Christina, Safiyyah, Brian, Ray, and Demitrius of course were all great. All of them together hosting the groups really help you see things objectively so you can circumvent things from happening in the future. This is life and death. I sit in the front row of every class and I always share because you never know the impact of what you say and how you can change some ones life just with a sentence. I learned that throughout my life I've conditioned myself to think that vulnerability is a sign of weakness and I've learned that it takes a lot of strength to be vulnerable. I felt like I've been betrayed by every person I've ever trusted in my life but now I've met a lot of people that I feel I can trust and count on and put my faith in which is a huge thing. It helped me to trust again, to have faith. I learned how similar I am to others and connecting with people is probably one of the most important things because I used to isolate. Isolation fosters the depression and I learned how to connect with others so I can maintain my sobriety. We did recovery Bingo and movie night and I won! The AA meetings were always great because it helps you get familiar with the group of people. You come to learn that it really does work if you put your effort into it, as they say you will be amazed before you are half way through. I hope this inspires somebody to come in for treatment because its hard to make that choice to step out of what's so familiar.
