Dream Center for Recovery (DCR) worked wonders for me. I am currently one year sober and it's all due to DCR. DCR has taught me coping skills and how to make my life manageable again. The accommodations are nonetheless more than expected. Rooms are clean, pool is maintained, rec center / cafeteria cleaned. The chef onsite bakes everything. No fried food. If you're allergic to a certain food and / or are a vegetarian, Chef accommodates as much as possible. Every Sunday there's adventure therapy. You learn to live again without the need of alcohol or drugs. DCR tries to bring you back to normality as healthy as possible. I would and have already recommended DCR to people in need of recovery.

My therapist Andrea helped me uncover past traumas that associate with how I present in my personal relationships and helped me break down some walls and barriers in that respect. My case manager Veronica has been absolutely excellent helping me set up my IOP, get my after care services and medications set up, and helped me overcome some obstacles in the process. She helped me plan my after care in a way that sets me up for success in my recovery. Dimitrius is absolutely amazing. I enjoy every class to the fullest. He is an amazing speaker, it is always rewarding being in his class. I love that you have the ability to keep your phone so you can have access to your family, friends, social media, and Netflix. I love Friday and Saturday movie nights. The gym here is absolutely top notch, I don't know of another gym that compares. All that's missing is a tanning bed, they have all the professional equipment you could find anywhere. The peer leaders here are incredible. You can always find someone to point you in the right direction or help you get what you need, you just have to ask. They take initiative and genuinely want to help the newcomer feel welcome. Game night and trivia night are a lot of fun. The AA meetings at 6:30 can be very rewarding. They have outside speakers come in that share their life experiences and make themselves vulnerable which can be very powerful. Whatever you're struggling with, there is someone here to assist whether its drug dependency, mental health care or whatever. Dr. Shania was great setting up my taper plan and making sure my medications were managed in a professional way and also making sure that all my medication was set up for when I go home to keep me on track. This is my fourth treatment and I have learned that the way I am built means that I cannot go out and do "just one" because one is too many and a thousand is never enough. I know that I am powerless to control my use and if I use then my fight or flight kicks in, takes over, and makes my decisions for me. I learned a lot about my brain and my body. This is my second time here and when I relapsed I knew exactly where I was going and chose to come here. I would recommend River Oaks to anyone who is struggling. They also have a pool table and ping pong table with an on site store!
