If you are reading this, then chances are you are looking at rehab for yourself or a loved one. I strongly urge you to give GBR a chance. After struggling for years, I hit rock bottom (again and again) and the program here is the only thing that has worked for me. The facility is beautiful and clean, the staff is compassionate, and this program WILL change your life.
My daughter received really great care during the 4 months she was in therapy at Transformations (spring of 2017). The therapists were insightful and responsive, and the staff really cared about her. The inpatient and PHP programs are excellent. She is young, and we were concerned about security, but it is a very secure environment. The clients get to do some fun things on the weekends, which is helpful. Transformations is supportive but helps the clients gain independent living skills.
My therapist Ali was one of the best therapists. She was so helpful with everything, listening and understanding. I was able to challenge her to challenge me. I adapt and overcome very easily and she opened me up to taking things slower and becoming more verbal. When I finished detox I thought I was ready to leave, but she talked to me about the importance of staying in treatment. Christine's Veterans groups, and Demitrius and Tony's groups in combination also convinced me to stay and opened my mind which made me more willing. The groups are very good. I would have loved for them to be longer. I wanted to keep going! Veterans groups were great because you are amongst your peers. Everyone has different backgrounds but we all have that similar experience. I would have loved to have had 2 Vets groups a day. Overall it was very nice. Volley ball and kickball were amazing. Those were very fun because it builds community and gives a great opportunity for exercise. The TA's were all very helpful and nice, easy to talk to. They actually show compassion. I like how quickly they learned everyone's name, it makes you feel like you matter and are cared for. Nurse Christina was also very helpful. I would recommend River Oaks to someone seeking treatment as long as they are willing to put in the work.
