Rehabs 360 Guide

Ambrosia Treatment Center operates five luxury residential treatment facilities around the U.S., three of them in Florida. The Singer Island facility is a resort-style treatment center located on the popular vacation island in South Florida’s Palm Beach region. The center offers detox, residential care, outpatient programming, and aftercare for adults seeking treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders.

The center uses individualized programs that combine the 12 Steps with holistic programming. The treatment process begins with an assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. The detox program lasts up to 10 days and uses a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) method to make the process easier. In Florida, 19,548 clients (4.7 percent of clients) in treatment completed a MAT program. The program uses a variety of medications to manage withdrawal symptoms. Once completed, clients can enter an outpatient or residential program.

Clients participate in a weekly core program of daily 12-step meetings, three small group therapy sessions, at least one marriage and family therapy session, and 10 educational lectures,. Marriage and couples counseling is offered in 71.3 percent of Florida’s treatment facilities.

Several alternative treatment methods are available as well. These include art and music therapy on alternating weeks. Yoga, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic sessions, a ropes course, and gym access are also incorporated into treatment. Residents also have weekly sessions with both a psychiatrist and a medical doctor.

Staff at this facility includes a master-level therapist and licensed certified addiction counselors. Ambrosia Treatment Center also employs psychiatrists, nurses, certified trauma therapists, and spiritual leaders, though it’s not clear whether any of these are posted at the Singer Island location. To date, all five of the individuals polled by Rehabs.com on the level of staff support received at this center gave it five out of five stars.

This is a luxury 32-bed facility with some private rooms, stunning views of the Intracoastal Waterway, and landscaped grounds. There is a pier along the water which is great for relaxing. Clients also have access to a fully furnished kitchen. Dietary preferences can be accommodated, and residents can enjoy weekly trips to the beach.

Of the 59 reviews submitted to Rehabs.com to date, 56 were very positive and three were negative. One alum, Harry, complained about not being given his phone and being told to make his own travel arrangements when he left. One person who didn’t attend the program gave a negative review from talking to someone “rude” on the phone. Joe wrote: “Horrible #1 the website pictures are bullcrap I wouldn't let my dog sleep there very unprofessional dirty dirty dirty dirty.” However, the other feedback doesn’t support these claims.

Cate added: “I loved my time there, I was treated like a good person that has a disease that is treatable.” Other reviewers praised the counselors, the food, the physical facility, and the aftercare options.
