  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Programs

  • Family Program

Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
  • Individualized Treatment

Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.

Rehabs 360 Guide

Designed in the sprawling, communal-living style of a Mediterranean villa, Futures of Palm Beach provides a full spectrum of services, including luxury residential addiction treatment, to adults. The facility also treats co-occurring mental health and eating disorders, and detox services are available on-site.

According to the center’s website, with a multidisciplinary approach at its core, Futures of Palm Beach employs traditional, holistic, and alternative therapy modalities in an effort to ensure that each client receives effective and personalized programming. Two tiers of care are offered — the Core Program and the Premium Tier. The latter has all the same amenities as the Core Program, plus extra massage and acupuncture sessions, improved living arrangements, personality testing, and more.

In addition to intensive dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), an evidence-based psychotherapy technique utilized at the facility, clients participate in individual and group counseling, biofeedback sessions, recovery coaching, and educational groups. Experiential practices, such as hypnotherapy, nutritional counseling, yoga, massage, acupuncture, and art therapy, complement the traditional therapies.

Futures encourages family members to participate throughout their loved one’s recovery process. During the latter stages of treatment, the facility hosts a three-day family program that offers workshops and family therapy sessions. Additionally, Futures has a dedicated aftercare program, which includes regular check-ins from an assigned life coach for months after treatment completion. Further, those who complete treatment are forever allowed to participate in alumni programming such as meetings, outings, and volunteer opportunities.

The center’s website states Futures of Palm Beach is led by a medical director who is a board certified addictionologist and psychiatrist, the facility’s treatment team consists of Ph.D.- and master's-level therapists, as well as credentialed recovery coaches, dietitians, hypnotherapists, and support staff.

Futures’ website indicates the center prides itself on its spa-like amenities and luxurious environment. Individuals are housed in spacious private rooms with bathrooms, walk-in closets, and TVs. While not in therapy, they are encouraged to cool off in the outdoor pool, relax in the Jacuzzi, and clear their minds in the sitting areas surrounding a meditative Koi pond.

Individuals have access to a fully equipped fitness center, a certified personal trainer (available when clinically appropriate), and tennis and volleyball courts. An on-site chef prepares gourmet meals daily, and clients may use cell phones and laptops with a therapist’s approval.

Of the dozen-plus alumni reviews collected by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing, feedback is mostly positive, with some notes of complaint. On the positive side, several alumni credited the center for having saved their lives. Vincent called the program “reality based” and A.C. received “very individualized” attention from the staff. “Would definitely recommend to others seeking treatment,” alum J.L. wrote.

Alum Stefanie wrote: “Futures truly saved my life!! The staff was wonderful and helped in so many ways!!! Everyday I wake up and I’m extremely and forever grateful for Futures!!!”

Other reviewers referred to their experiences as “fantastic” or “life changing,” and to the staff as “compassionate,” “easy to communicate with,” and “talented.” M.E.P. stated: “I was treated like a human being and helped to succeed even when I wanted to quit.”

The reviews from those whose experiences were less positive cited disorganization, high cost, and deceptive marketing. V.S. told Rehabs.com: “I was ready to leave with in the first week, as I felt that it was not organized, but I decided to stay and give it a chance-I wish I hadn't…They have grand 'ideas' of how to run an addiction treatment center, but have not the organization to implement it properly." And Morgan, though she gave four-star ratings across the board, warned prospective clients about deceptive marketing and pricey extras. She wrote: “Website is misleading... Also, I don't understand the random out of pocket costs."

The eight loved ones who were polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided mostly positive reviews. Aside from complaining about the high costs, loved ones were appreciative of the facility’s warm, community-based environment. Laura, whose daughter attended Futures of Palm Beach, wrote to Rehabs.com: “The staff was wonderful and easy to communicate with, which helped when I was unable to visit. I felt very much 'at ease' knowing she was being cared for.” Other anonymous loved ones noted that the staff were “friendly,” “well trained,” and “caring.”

Loved ones gave the center more than four out of five stars in every category including counseling options, the staff’s experience, and holistic offerings.

The facility accepts most health insurance policies and self-payment. For those who are uninsured and cannot afford to pay for treatment upfront, Futures has partnered with Prosper Healthcare Lending to provide loans and financing options.
