I loved it here. Initially coming in I slept the first three days because I was exhausted and in such a foggy state. The room was really nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. I immediately realized that this was a safe place for me to come and get better. I felt like I had the support of the staff. The nurses were right there on the same floor and if I needed something I could go right to them. I had a very good interaction with all staff and felt like my needs were being met. I got back on my meds for my bi-polar which helped me get on track. I can see the difference now that I've been back on my medication and I can see how important they are for my recovery. I also liked the schedule because I needed the routine to help heal me, that was important. Even when I didn't feel like getting up, I pushed through it and attended my groups which was a huge benefit to me. The staff gave me gentle nudges in the right direction and we all worked together. I knew I needed help so I accepted it and got the help that I asked for and needed. I loved the TA's Rachel and Cecil. I had a good interaction with Tripp and Mattie, they really stood out. Angie in the cafeteria was so sweet, she was always helpful. I love the fountains here, the trickling of the water is so calming. The grounds over all were very peaceful with a nature path which was really cool. I loved doing art class and movie night. I watched everyone play volleyball in the sun and it was really great fun. I learned how to have fun in a sober atmosphere and that its possible to have fun in recovery. I am not the same person as when I came in, I'm a different person and I learned how to rediscover what I liked about myself. I was miserable and I finally have that weight lifted off of me and I feel happy in my own skin today. I'm still learning and have a long way to go but I have hope that I didn't have any hope before I came here.
For my first time being in rehab, I would definitely say this is one of the best rehab places in the state of Florida let alone the country. The staff is amazing and beyond friendly and care about their patients.
I spent the better part of 15 years using methamphetamine. It had taken over my life and my ability to be comfortable around anyone, most of all myself. I knew I needed help and I had finally gotten to a place where I wanted help. I had never been to rehab before and wasn’t really sure where to start. I knew that a 12 step program was not for me. I just started searching the internet and Gulf Breeze Recovery kept popping up. I called a few places only to get an answering service. I was left feeling discouraged and because of this, I was reluctant to call GBR. When I finally worked up the courage to ca a man answered the phone. I’m so glad he did because I’m not sure I would have ever made it to any rehab if I had not spoken to a real person. Everyone at GBR went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. During my 12 week stay at GBR I learned, not just how to survive but how to live life healthy and happy. I enjoy life now, a life that I now know I deserve. I thank God that I found GBR. It is the real deal! Thank you Gulf Breeze Recovery for saving my life!
