    Since 1988, Tim has been involved with Teen Challenge and is deeply aware of what it is to be addicted to drugs. Addiction destroyed his marriage and landed him in prison. However, he soon became a student with Teen Challenge, and over time learned to apply God’s Word to his life. He found renewed purpose and desired to help others just as he was once helped with his drug addiction. After seven years of being estranged from his wife, God gradually restored his marriage and on December 4th, 2008, they celebrated 26 years of marriage!

New Horizon Recovery Center, located in Lithonia, Ga., offers residential treatment to male adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse. Established in 1997 by a graduate of the Teen Challenge program, the New Horizon Recovery House is part of the Teen Challenge network, a Christian recovery program that has over 100 locations across the United States. The facility is gender-specific, serving young men.


To be admitted, clients must fill out an application on the New Horizon Recovery Center website. The intensive residential program lasts for one year.

The facility’s treatment program teaches ”Biblical solutions to individuals with life-controlling issues”. Throughout treatment, clients receive mentoring and leadership training, job skills and management teaching, and job placement assistance. The program also offers Turning Point classes, individual, and family counseling.

As a Teen Challenge ministry, the program boasts high success rates, with eighty-six percent of program graduates remaining drug free after completing the residential program.


The treatment team at New Horizon Recovery Center is primarily made up of trained graduates of the organization’s residential program. The founder is a licensed minister, pastoral counselor, and teacher.


New Horizon Recovery Center is located in a two-story farmhouse just east of Atlanta, Ga. While the reviewer gave high ratings to the staff's level of training and experience, they noted that the facility, "seemed like they did not have enough staff."
