I arrived at Penfield in December 1988 just before Christmas and the desire to drink or use any mind altering chemicals were removed. I believe the lord led me there. Ken Klun checked me in, Jim Vogt was the director and was on vacation. Not a doubt in my mind then or now God led me to Penfield Christian Home in Union Point, GA, a place where you could connect with your inner most self. I love this place and carried everything that was taught with me and still think of everyone that the Lord placed in my path. Still clean and sober after all these years and if I can do it, ( old crackhead) there is no excuse you can’t do it along with AA and the good Lord!

Penfield changed my life. It was a wonderful mind, body, and soul experience that ultimately brought me to a mindset of sobriety. I’m so very thankful for the grace bestowed upon me during my stay. 425 days of sobriety today, connecting outside of the bubble and submitting my life and will to God, He has proven stronger than I could ever imagine. He is the God of restoration, if only we we will admit our weakness. That is where He is made strong.

I attended Penfield in May 2015. The Lord Jesus Christ used the ministry at Penfield to change my life. I have not drank or used since the day I arrived over 6 years ago. I was saved while I was on campus and I have come to have a genuine relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I also was given excellent treatment and care by the staff. I was educated on the biology of addiction, the 12 steps, and the social implications as well. They worked with my family financially as well and went above and beyond to help me. I most likely would have died in my addiction if not for what I received from Penfield.

MY SON WAS THERE NOT QUITE THREE WEEKS BUT ARRIVED A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO A GRADUATING CLASS AND HIS PROGRAM STARTING. ACCORDING TO THE CONTRACT IT WAS A MINIMUM $1500 (TWO WEEKS) PLUS THE WEEKLY FEE IF THEY LEAVE. I HAVE NOW PAID A TOTAL OF $3,650 AND THEY ARE STILL BILLING ME $200 A MONTH A YEAR AND A HALF LATER. I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AND WAS TOLD IT WAS STOP. TO DATE IT STILL IS BEING TAKEN OUT AS OF LAST NIGHT! THIS IS NOTHING BUT A MONEY MAKER RACKET. THEY CARE MORE ABOUT MILKING MONEY THAN ACTUALLY HELPING. I WORK IN COURT SERVICES AND WILL NEVER EVER AGAIN RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO HELP OTHERS. THERE ARE WAY TO MANY FACILITIES THAT HELP WITHOUT LEGAL EXTORTION OF MONEY FROM HARD WORKING FAMILIES TRYING TO MAKE END MEETS.

My son attended Penfield in 2016. He loved the camaraderie of the men who where working through their Struggles as he was. Unfortunately 6 weeks is not long enough to heal the thoughts of addiction mentality. We also didn’t realize the importance of aftercare/sober living. Don’t expect to have your son, husband, or brother back home in 6 weeks free from addiction. The program is way too short. It would have a much greater impact if it were a 90 day treatment. 45 days isn’t long enough to get much accomplished. My son did manage to stay sober for 10 months. However his thought process didn’t change, he still thought like a person with addiction problems. Now here we are 4 years later facing the pain of addiction all over again. Fortunately we are better informed this time. So as soon as the problems started we pulled back all of our financial support immediately! He will find himself back in rehab, that’s a given. This time it will be a 12 month treatment program. Lord willing “No longer bound” in north ga.
