ABOUT INTERMOUNTAIN HOSPITAL

Located in Boise, Ida., Intermountain Hospital is a psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment facility that offers a full continuum of treatment services for adults and adolescents. The center offers medical detox, a residential program, partial hospitalization program (PHP), and outpatient treatment.

The Clean and Sober Teens (CAST) program provides treatment for teens struggling with drugs and alcohol, while New Start is the counterpart program for adults. TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

At Intermountain Hospital, the process starts with an assessment by a psychiatrist, which is used to create an individualized treatment plan. Clients are admitted to the appropriate level of care based on the assessment.

At the center, treatment for substance abuse consists of medically managed detox, as well as counseling and community-based recovery activities. As noted, the facility uses specialized treatment tracks to facilitate services for different age groups.

Each client participates in group and individual counseling, as well as recreational treatment options. Programming includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), daily 12-step meetings, psychoeducational classes, relapse prevention workshops, and mental health support and education.

The CAST program provides 21- to 28-day residential care for adolescents who need treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Adolescents focus on developing sober living skills through counseling, education, and therapeutic recreation. Family involvement is encouraged throughout treatment, and family counseling is available.

Intermountain Hospital also offers outpatient programs, such as a PHP and intensive outpatient programs (IOP), which can be used as a step-down process from more structured treatments. Aftercare planning services are available in preparation for clients to exit treatment. Clients work with counselors to develop a system of sober living guidelines and support structures to maintain recovery.
