    Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.

Located in Pocatello, Idaho, Moonlight Mountain Recovery it is one of the 10 (7 percent) of Idaho treatment centers that offers long-term, residential services to individuals struggling with substance use or co-occurring disorders. It also offers social detox and aftercare planning.


According to Moonlight Mountain Recovery's website, treatment typically begins with a detailed psychological evaluation and substance abuse assessment. Afterward, the treatment team creates an individualized treatment plan for each client.

Clients are in inpatient care between 30 to 90 days, then participate in aftercare support. Moonlight Mountain Recovery offers in-house social detox. If cases are too severe for a home setting, the treatment center can connect and transport clients to a detox center.

Programming includes the latest therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), nature or experiential therapy, trauma and PTSD therapy, the 12-Steps, meditation and mindfulness, yoga, and emotional processing. Services also include group, family, and individual therapy, and residents participate in three therapy sessions a day.


Moonlight Mountain Recovery's website notes its treatment team includes licensed therapists and counselors. The staffer polled by Rehabs.com to date gave five out of five stars for the staff's experience.


Moonlight Mountain Recovery's website indicates its not a medical facility, and maintains a feeling of home. It has accommodations for up to eight residents. Clients have access to exercise options available at the facility and in the community.

"They have a very high staff-to-client ratio," they wrote. "Everyone that works there has a lot of experience in dealing with addiction and even dual diagnosis which really helps. The facility is beautiful and comfortable".


According to Moonlight Mountain Recovery's website, it accepts insurance. The staff member surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave five out of five stars when asked if treatment was worth the cost.
