Riverside Alcohol and Drug Services of the Robert Young Center provide hospital-based substance abuse treatment, including emergency intervention and detoxification, as well as residential and outpatient services for adults and outpatient treatment for adolescents. ABOUT ROBERT YOUNG CENTER – RIVERSIDE ALCOHOL AND DRUG SERVICES

Riverside Alcohol and Drug Services is a hospital-based chemical dependency program of the Robert Young Center (RYC), a community mental health center serving the Quad Cities area of Illinois and Iowa. Located in Rock Island, Ill., Riverside offers 24/7 crisis intervention services, medical detox, and inpatient and outpatient treatment programs for individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

A 2017 SAMHSA survey indicates that 3.8 percent of facilities in Illinois offer hospital inpatient treatment and 3.6 percent offer detox in a hospital setting. Additionally, Riverside is one of 168 (26.5 percent) treatment facilities in Illinois to offer a program specifically tailored to adolescents.

RYC is part of the Trinity network, which operates four full-service hospitals in Rock Island and Moline, Illinois, and Bettendorf and Muscatine, Iowa. Trinity is an affiliate of UnityPoint Health, a large integrated health system with numerous locations in the Quad Cities and throughout Iowa.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

In all three treatment tracks—residential, outpatient, and detox—clients participate in individual and group counseling, as well as education about addiction, rehabilitation, and relapse prevention According to the center’s website, residential care at Riverside involves 12-step participation and strongly encourages family participation.

Outpatient tracks include both intensive and non-intensive programs. Riverside is also one of 336 (53.1 percent) of treatment facilities in Illinois to offer a program specifically tailored to DUI clients.

Additionally, there is a program for continuing care, which includes group sessions led by a certified addiction counselor. To participate, alumni must commit to attending at least one group session per week. Additional individual and family sessions are available by appointment for the continuing care program.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the RYC's website, the treatment team includes registered nurses, certified addiction counselors, psychiatrists, and other behavioral health staff. To date, the five individuals polled on the matter by Rehabs.com appreciated the facility's staff.

The nine alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date provided mostly positive feedback for the facility. Alumni tended to appreciate the amount of family participation, though were more critical of the facility's counseling options and holistic treatment offerings. One anonymous alum gave five-stars for the facility's ability to treat co-occurring disorders and wrote: "Psychiatrist was nice. It was a brief treatment."

Offering a four-star rating for the facility's staff experience and five stars for the likelihood they'd recommend the facility, N.M added: "The staff and counselors at riverside helped me back on my feet and gave me the tools that I needed to feel a part of society again and helped me love myself once again.”

Neither could name any weaknesses of the facility. One anonymous loved one wrote in a representative review “Great experience there. Amazing staff,” while the other praised the center's “kindness, confidence resources.”
