Avenues Recovery Center At Louisiana

4933 Wabash Street, Suite 203, Metairie, Louisiana, 70001
Addiction Recovery Resources believes that true recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction is only possible when an individual is given the opportunity to reintegrate into his or her community environment. The Louisiana-based residential rehab allows its clients to do just that by offering a network of positive support, in addition to a continuum of care designed to meet the needs of patients at every stage of the disease. Family participation is also essential to recovery, and the wellness of the non-addicted family members is the goal of family participation. AAR believes that recovery is possible for all addicts and alcoholics, as well as the people who love them.

Rehabs 360 Guide

Addiction Recovery Resources, Inc., (AAR) is one of Louisiana’s 53 private, for-profit addiction treatment organizations, which make up 39 percent of Louisiana facilities, with facilities in Metairie and Harvey, La.

The New Orleans-area location offers ambulatory detox, a residential program, intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), and transitional sober living services, for men and women seeking treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders. Treatment is available to address sex and gambling addictions.

Treatment at Addiction Recovery Resources centers is based on a 12-step model. A free initial assessment process is used to develop an individualized treatment plan. The facility follows the disease model of addiction and provides services accordingly.

Medically-assisted treatment (MAT) is used in detox services and are provided on an outpatient basis. The detox process occurs during a three- to five-day period which complements physical recovery with addiction education and referrals to continuing care.

ARR's residential program consists of two phases: education and application. The 30-day education phase focuses on understanding substance use disorders and developing basic life skills. An additional two months of treatment applies these outcomes in addressing issues such as trauma, grief, conflict resolution, and nutrition.

This period also serves as a transition phase, preparing clients for ongoing recovery outside of rehab. Residents are expected to work, attend school, or participate in volunteer activities throughout the application phase.

In addition to individual and group therapy and educational sessions, treatment plans incorporate experiential and expressive therapies, spiritual work, multi-family group sessions, and supervised drug testing. All graduates of this program are eligible for up to one year of aftercare.

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) uses the same treatment modalities as the residential program while meeting four evenings a week for eight weeks. Notably, the client’s significant other is expected to attend all IOP sessions.

Throughout each AAR program, clients attend 12-step meetings and interact with the local recovery community.

Addiction Recovery Resources employs multiple addictionologists, master's level therapists and licensed addiction counselors. The facility is one of the 67 (49.3 percent) of Louisiana facilities that are accredited by CARF.

Residential clients live in furnished apartments and prepare their own meals. Clients are not permitted to bring electronic devices such as laptops or tablets into the facility; however, they are able to use cell phones at specified times. Smoking is also allowed at designated times and areas, although cessation assistance is available. Smoking cessation services are available at only 36.8 percent of treatment facilities. Supervised recreational activities are arranged on weekends.
