As far as what a transitional living facility can offer someone (separate from that individual's own intentions and efforts in staying sober), Foundation House truly has it all. As a former resident I can say the program offered an ideal balance of support and freedom where I was able to access all the help that I needed while simultaneously developing the skills and attitudes that would be necessary to carry on a successful life in sobriety after moving out. The activities and experiences made available to me at Foundation House were second to none and they extend their support beyond the tenure of an active paying resident. I continue to participate in a number of activities and frequently get invited on everything from resident camping trips to extended journeys overseas even after having moved out several years ago. Coming from an absolutely hopeless state before moving into Foundation House, I've been sober for nearly 5 years now and I'm grateful to the program for helping me get to where I am today.
treatment, caring staff, understanding. has a strong staff and they treat you with res pect
The best thing about Mercy is that SOME of the staff are very helpful, (while others have no idea what they're doing.) They do make it easy to treat a substance abuse issue simultaneously with other mental health issues and, (depending on WHO you work with,) the staff can be very effective at creating and assisting you to complete your treatment plans. More than half of the staff, either doesn't know how to do their job or they try to do a job that they're not qualified for. They will kick you out randomly, for little to no reason at all. If you relapse, instead of helping you when you need it, they will discharge you. Most of the staff are rude, but the worst thing about this place is that they closed down so they don't offer services anymore, such as prescriptions (that I need,) although they did help refer me to a new doctor. This place is closed down now, so inorder to get assistance with your substance abuse issue, you will have to travel far away to participate in an in-patient or out-patient rehab facility, OR you'll have to pay out the A*s for a private doctor.
