In our experience, there is no one single treatment pathway that leads to recovery because of this, we offer many unique approaches for our clients to utilize. We understand that each client will be in a different stages of their recovery at the time they receive treatment, therefore it is important that we meet the client where they are at, we also believe that it is imperative to include the client’s thoughts, opinions, and experiences in their treatment planning. It is not THEIR treatment plan or MY treatment plan; it is OUR treatment plan How are we different? Here at Aftermath Treatment Center, we take immense pride in the fact that we have walked in the same shoes as our clients. We are a dual diagnosis treatment center for addicts, by addicts. All of our staff members take great honor that we approach treatment planning differently from other treatment centers. Our foundation for our treatment planning, begins and ends with the most crucial ingredients: love, empathy, and direction. However, we do provide and utilize other proven clinical and medical approaches and techniques. We are able to provide these crucial ingredients because we wholeheartedly understand what it is like to be in our clients’ positions. And although there are many ways that Aftermath Treatment Center stands apart, I think it is more important that we all stand together during your challenging time with either yourself or a loved one. Foundation House

Foundation House is the place where my son's life was saved. This was his 5th attempt at getting sober and we had tried places in and out of the country. The camaraderie, amenities, programming, and growth opportunities that was available to my son was second to none. When he first arrived, he had real trouble buying into recovery as he did every time before but his therapist insisted we give him time to acclimate to the program. By 6 months in, it was clear that something was different this time. I understand that its AA that gets people sober. But Foundation House was the only place where my son was ready to receive it. I don't know if it was the individual therapy, the group therapy, the 3 wilderness trips he went on, the music studio time they rent for the guys, the athletic leagues they offer, the house culture at the residence he lived in, a combination of all of it, or something else entirely but something began to click. My son's been sober 4 years now and I can't thank Foundation House enough for the effort they put in. I read these other reviews and genuinely hope that their sons have found somewhere that offers their sons a similar experience to the one my son had at Foundation House. But take it from a parent who truly thought they lost their son, Foundation House is the place that brought him back to us.

Borden Cottage

I was a client twice. The accommodations and staff are excellent. Meals are some of the best I've ever had. Clinically it's okay. Probably not worth the cost if you're seriously addicted. Ian (who runs most groups)is a great guy but has never drank alcohol in his life. They have you make trigger lists and there is a lot of CBT and DBT. For me a trigger to drink is waking up in the morning and CBT / DBT are great for people trying to deal with their emotions but real addiction is on a much deeper level. Tom Rodman ( whose in recovery and rents out beautiful Fox Hill to McClain) offers some 12 step work and they offer optional 12 step meetings but it's not enough. For a real alcoholic and addict no amount of art therapy / yoga/ CBT will really help. Maybe great for dual diagnosis people but for me it was just a really expensive vacation. Try to find a 12- step based treatment center if you want to achieve sobriety.
