Located in the seaside town of Falmouth, Mass., Gosnold on Cape Cod offers a full continuum of gender-specific treatment services for adults struggling with substance abuse. The facility offers inpatient, outpatient, and intensive outpatient programs (IOP), as well as a partial hospitalization program (PHP). In addition, the facility is among the 32.5 percent of facilities in the state to offer specialized tracks for pregnant and postpartum women. Medically monitored detoxification is also provided on-site.


While treatment duration varies, inpatient clients typically remain on-site for three to five weeks, and those in specialized tracks stay for up to 10 weeks. Only 10 percent of facilities in Massachusetts offer short-term residential treatment options.

Regardless of program intensity, all clients are introduced to 12-Step and can expect to participate in individual and group therapy. Education is also a key program component, as well as holistic health and wellness approaches. For instance, clients receive guidance on physical fitness and nutrition and are encouraged to participate in yoga and meditation.

Whenever possible, clients’ family members play an active role in their loved one’s recovery. There are weekly education sessions for loved ones, as well as family counseling and continuing care discussions with clinicians.
