ABOUT WORKIT CLINIC
Located in Ann Arbor, Mich., Workit Health offers outpatient treatment to adults struggling with opioid dependency. The facility combines medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with online counseling. In 2017, 10,529 individuals were receiving MAT in Michigan, making up about 2.5 percent of individuals receiving buprenorphine at a national level.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Clients first participate in an online assessment and intake questionnaire. Once accepted to the program, clients receive directions to undergo a drug test at least three days before an in-person visit to the clinic.
Once the client receives the results, the individual meets with a physician on-site for a medical examination. To accurately determine the needs of the client, Workit Health strongly encourages for individuals to begin the withdrawal process as much as possible, at least abstaining for 12 hours.
Through the information gathered through the intake process, clinicians prescribe a recommended dosage of buprenorphine, which is a medication utilized by 20 percent of treatment facilities in Michigan. It's prescribed directly to the pharmacy.
Unique to Workit Health, the facility administers much of programming online, and is among the 15.4 percent of treatment facilities in Michigan to offer computerized substance abuse treatment. Clients participate in a weekly one-on-one telemedicine consultation with a clinic physician. Through these weekly teleconferences, clinicians are able to monitor the individual's medical needs and treatment progress.
Clients also have 24/7 access to counselors and peer specialists for one-on-one teletherapy sessions. A free online curriculum is available for loved ones.
