Overall my time here was great. I was not excited about being put in as an inpatient, but the staff, environment, treatments and people I met there were definitely life changing.

A Forever Recovery

One of my best friends of many years went to A Forever Recovery. He is one of my closest friends and is like a brother to me. It became apparent to me a little less than a year ago that he was suffering with an addiction to Oxycontin, a substance abuse habit that I had been suspicious that he had but never had been able to confirm until he flat out admitted it to me. I had seen other friends fall prey to addiction over the years, so I knew what I was seeing, but I couldn’t get him to admit it to me. He finally came to his parents and me and admitted that he had a problem, and we immediately worked quickly to find him a rehab center to go to. We acted fast, because we didn\'t know how long he’d be in the frame of mind where he was willing to get help and do something about his addiction habit. He had been so hidden and reticent in recent past that we were afraid he’d jump back into that stage soon enough. Shortly after beginning our search, we happened across A Forever Recovery. This center really jumped off the page at us. His parents, my friend, and I were all quite impressed with the literature we read about the center, and shortly afterwards we went in for a tour. I was quite impressed with the facility itself, the staff members there, and their rehabilitation program. A Forever Recovery offers a very malleable yet structured program. I knew at once that this would be effective for my friend because, while I knew he needed a program that could be structured around his needs and wants and what he basically as an individual needed to address to beat addiction, I also knew that he needed structure and a reliable schedule to really beat the habit once and for all and for good. Once my best friend was in A Forever Recovery and attending the program, I knew we’d made the right choice. I was a little nervous at first saying goodbye to him on his first day but the staff comforted his parents and me and we felt so comfortable with their calming presence that our concerns were soon assuaged. Ever since that first day my greatest and closest friend has done nothing but improve. He improved while he was in the center, and he’s been improving every day since he graduated. All of the great and lovable characteristics that he has have been enhanced and all the bad ones that came with the addiction are now gone. I finally have my best friend back, and I have A Forever Recovery to thank for that! -Jason

Brighton Center for Recovery

Excellent family involvement and education re: addiction, great halfway house, first facility to introduce us to Vivitrol via their newsletter (after our daughter had left). Foreward thinking. Not necessarily their fault (by law), but our daughter left facility without their knowledge with an addict she met there and we had no idea where she was. Created all kinds of stress for us and risk for her. Undermined all the progress she'd made. Our daughter has been sober and drug free for nearly 3 years. While we can't credit Brighton with her recovery (it represents a combination of several factors), I will always recall Brighton as the facility where we gained the most useful knowledge about addiction and its effect on brain chemistry, and ultimately learned about Vivitrol, which was instrumental in helping our daughter fight her Heroin addiction. Our daughter had been to other rehab facilities and detox centers and this was the first that offered new insight and thinking beyond the 12-Step programs with their barely 25% success rate. If addiction is a disease - which I believe it is - would anyone in the medical profession be satisfied with a treatment plan that helped just 25% of their patients, unless the disease were some rare, life-threatening disorder that had no known cure? It's astonishing that the addiction recovery community was satisfied with that kind of success rate and essentially built in failure by promising every incoming rehab patient that "relapse is part of recovery." No wonder the heroin epidemic has reached the level it has.
